OR

Finnishing off Slovenia at EuroBasket.

The National team nicknamed the Wolfpack has the whole nation excited. Beating the Slow-venes in Ljubljana was the icing on the rink (little hockey humor, very little). The Wolfpack feel they are a force to be reconned with come Helsinki or Hyvinkaa water.

Good updates on former players!  Anyone else notice the error in who Angola would have played in the championship game? lol

Hm?  Is it now fixed?

1-0, b/c obviously a forfeit once they realized they were playing on the wrong continent

Interesting note on buggs...   I didn't see anything about him getting picked up...   Hope he did.

Are you sure it didn't say he was playing in a pick up game for a Dodge Royal Monaco?   ;D

Mike Oppland update:

http://www.court-side.com/news/blog/mike-oppland-signs-with-black-star/
It seems Mike is still trying to keep up with his brother, Dan, but just hasn't been able to master the same level of basketball. Which is much like his time and subsequent departure from Valpo.

Auf wiedersehen, haben Sie eine gute Reise!

I find it interesting that it lists him as Valparaiso '06, as he did not graduate from our school.  I believe that it was Calumet College?  Also, he has been playing professional basketball for 7 years so far, and has probably made some good money doing so.  You can say that regardless of being in Dan's shadow, he has made a good living!

true, and impressive.  pretty cool that they were teammates last year!

Seem like Buggs played for Monaco (presumably AS Monaco?) in some kind of a (US-based?) Eurobasket summer league.

I don't immediately see any evidence that they picked him up on an ongoing basis.

Still, good for him!

Ouch...   ASU coach interview - the coach discusses the team and forgets to mention Richie Edwards

The problem for Richie is that Arizona State was pretty decent last year, whereas the team he was coming to was horrible after his Valpo season.  He was probably hoping to play a lot of minutes for a bad Pac-12 team, that improved quite a bit last year instead.

Edit: ASU was 22-13 in 2012-2013, while 10-21 in 2011-2012.

According to Eric Buggs Twitter over the weekend, he would attending tryouts with the Ft Wayne Mad Ants of the CBA. How about an all-Valpo backcourt there with Ron Howard.

I remember some of their fan discussions about Richie when ASU announced his transfer (they were not very nice).   I thought he was a decent player that would get some playing time at ASU.  If he is an after thought by the coach now it may not look good for him this year.   (still wish him luck)

Also saw a Wagner University video for their season kickoff and was wondering what type of playing time Harris will end up with.   Always thought he had potential but seemed like his head was a little too big for what he was bringing to the team.  He just rarely seemed happy in his role... (hope it is a good move for him)

Aren't they in the NBA Development League instead?  Here's hoping that it is NOT an all-Valpo backcourt for Ft. Wayne, as I am hanging on to the very slim hope that Ron makes the Pacers roster in being given that opportunity.

Edit: Speaking of Ron Howard, it looks like he actually received a few minutes in the Pacers' last exhibition against Houston, after not playing in their first game against the same team.  Might this have been his first ever appearance in an NBA game, even though it was an exhibition?  I believe that when his contract was purchased a few years ago, he didn't appear in anything.

Darn! I forgot to flip the channel and look in on the Pacers' game while watching the Red Sox/Tigers and WashingtonNFLteam/Cowboys games. Wish I had thought of it and seen Ron Howard get some time in with the Pacers.

I may be wrong about this, but I believe Ron was with the Knicks in the pre-season a few years ago and went to China with them.  Thought he might have gotten a few minutes while there, but not sure.

Too bad.  Probably his last chance at making an NBA roster.
