Man, this is cool.  The Men's Soccer Program has a legit star -- in the classroom (as well as between the posts).  Goalkeeper Kyle Zobeck.  The VU Athletic site has the details, but here's an excerpt about Kyle:

"Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society, selects up to five of the "best of the best" students from more than 325 U.S. colleges of engineering. Zobeck has the honor of being in a select group of 83 Laureates chosen since 1982. According to the Tau Beta Pi website, these Laureates are outstanding examples of the "spirit of liberal culture in engineering colleges."

Mike Avery is doing a super job of recruiting and retaining great soccer players who are great kids.

Hey Valpo, put another feather in your cap.

That's great news--and this is par for the course (ok, mixed metaphor since this is soccer).  Co-captain Marc Riedl ('93?ish) was a Rhodes finalist!  Keep it up, boys!

Good stuff!  Not only cool, but a good recruiting tool - look at what our athletes accomplish!  The AD, AD staff, and Soccer program should be proud.  As well as Mr. Zobeck!
