Valpo Basketball / Re: Student Section of the Year Voting
February 05, 2013, 09:47:30 PM
Criticize if you want, but just realize there's a lot of stuff happening around campus right now with this being a big exam/paper week plus a gala tonight for one of Phi Mu Alpha's brothers who died in Afghanistan. There are actually bigger things in life than making it to one basketball game, whether you guys believe it or not...

Valpo Basketball / Re: International Recruits

Carter will (almost certainly) have to sit out 1st semester games next year, so LaVonte will definitely have the starting job out of the gates and it would just be up to him to keep working hard and retain his spot.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Bracketbuster

Bracketbusters will be announced Jan 28th, so by my count that gives us 9 more games (including tough road matchups at Murray St, UIC, and Detroit) to improve our rankings, so we can draw the best matchup possible. Personally I would like to see us up against a Valley team, preferably Illinois St. After watching them beat Dayton a couple of nights ago they look like a solid team and would give us a tough game in the ARC

Valpo Basketball / Re: why isnt this team clicking

I look at the addition of Dority and his shot creating ability as a huge positive.  If we would've had him earlier in the season (for example Nebraska) he could've been a game changer since we were struggling to drive the ball to the bucket, which seems to be one of his biggest strengths.  Looking forward I believe he will give us the opportunity to win some games that we would otherwise struggle in with his help either off the bench or in the starting 5 depending on where Bryce sees him fitting best.

LaPorteAveApostle, there was a student bus to UWM last year and while yes we did not fill the entire bus we were easily the loudest section in the arena once we got there.  Apparently we were crazy enough that they put us up on their jumbotron even though we had a huge Valpo flag at the front of our section and got put way up in the upper deck.  Yes some of us do get frustrated with other students who do not show up, but also look at the community support, it isn't always there either.  It isn't always about the quantity of your fans in the student section, just the quality.

I caught the second half online and was also getting frustrated with the delay on the audio feed.  Glad to know it wasn't just an issue with my computer, hopefully it will be fixed for the next broadcast.  I noticed that they did have it synced up correctly in the highlight video so I'm assuming that they caught their error.

Other Sports / Re: Valpo to the MVC!
November 28, 2012, 04:10:49 PM
MVC still has 10 basketball schools, but even if they didn't it wouldn't be in their best interest to add Valpo.  In all honesty baseball and basketball would be facing an uphill battle when it comes to recruiting against the MVC schools due to facilities.  Valpo would by far have the smallest arena for basketball and the baseball facility would be considered subpar in comparison to some of these stadiums (Eck Stadium, TD Ameritrade, and Hammons for example)
