The president is so toxic to America. Today he is tweeting liberate Virginia. Liberate Michigan. Liberate Minnesota. All he is doing is   escalating the growing unrest in the States. Yes people want to get back to work. Get back to our normal lives of eating out, movies, visiting friends and family, shopping and sporting events and concerts. But according to every medical expert this will not happen for a long time. Maybe even a year or more. Has everyone seen pictures of those Michigan protesters. Right wing Trumpsters carrying automatic weapons and having their children carrying signs that I'm sure they dint have a clue about. It will spread if people are not maintaining recommended health standards and precautions. I'm sure the president realizes that those states are important to his re-election and inciting his Trumpsters is needed. Give me a break. Yes leave it up to the Governors. Opening up the states county by county would seem to be a not very good way of doing it. So you open up Porter county. Whats to keep people from Lake County or La Porte County or even Illinois from coming to Porter County and shopping and spreading the virus. There has to be a more logical way. Yes more testing is needed. As for sporting events ... I would not be surprised as NCAA basketball next fall will be a victim. I hope not. To all ... please be safe. Wear your masks when going out.

DEFLECT .... DENY .... DIRECT the blame elsewhere.  President Trump understands those concepts fairly well.  The nice little propaganda film the White House put out is a perfect example.  Everyone else is to blame but his Administration on the outbreak circumstances.

Yes I agree to some of your points wh especially about the economy. Yet a return to normalcy if started too soon would be disastrous. I'm retired as I've said before so going back to work does not effect me. I don't know how many of you work from home at this point and so continue to earn a living and contribute to the economy. However the pro Trump people in the media right posturing media don't seem to get it. They work in safe environments but how many would trade those jobs to go work in health service, food service, public service jobs , etc. that have to face people. I bet the Rush Limbaughs, Laura Ingrahms and Hannity's of the world would not do it. Even the President who is a known germaphobe probably would not do it. It easy to say go back to work but until more testing is done especially for antibodies is done there will be a big unknown. There are plenty of haters on the right side of politics too. I hear them on the radio all the time. its a win / lose situation right now. All we can do is listen to the experts and trust in their decisions.

I see where Doctors Laura Ingrahm , Bill Barr and Donald Trump are pushing for a quicker return to normal. Perhaps before the end of the month. Glad to hear that such eminent doctors are saying things are improving greatly. I'm so encouraged.

Just read a report that the government is having provide extra protection for Dr. Fauci.  Right-wing commentators, bloggers and pro-trump groups have been sending threatening emails and communications to him. Sad that one man who has stood up to the President receives this kind of hatred.

Some humor to brighten your day. Glad to see the President listening to advisors more. I feel the end of April may not be long enough. Stay safe all.

wh, all nastiness aside i needed to vent and its been awhile. No I am not a public school teacher but have many friends who are. I am a VU graduate but now retired from the steel industry. I live in valpo and have worked the voting polls for several years. Registered democrat which i hope you don't take offense to. thanks for your kidding and i take it for what it was. The president just ordered 10,000 doses of the Lupus medicine to New York. I hope it works but i still feel people need to self quarantine to stem the spread. Hope you are well as Indiana I see has implemented a stay in home order starting wednesday

Thanks 72.  I knew there was another major medical issue that chloroquinine is used for. Could not remember Lupus and there is certainly a need for that medicine there. Trumps snide attacks on Tony Fauci are becoming more prevalent. I've kept my comments private to the board for quite awhile but is awful hard to watch this buffoon lie to us constantly and bend the truth.

Our Grand Poobah is loosing it. He has no clue on how to handle a crisis. Hold a press conference. Trust his advisers when he should just shut up. I've seen enough of the buffoon and press conferences which are just a bunch of double talk. He constantly lies. Tell the effing truth that you don't have the answers available at this moment. Geez, a war president, come on. We would be under Nazis control if he had been president in 1941. He still basically feels that it will just disappear magically. What kind of an answer is that. Besides constantly calling it the Chinese Disease. Alright, once or twice is enough. But he constantly goes out of way to push that wording scenario. I would not be surprised if he starts firing his medical advisers becuz they are following his comments and refuting what he is saying. whether its about using some medicine that is used for malaria, arthritis and needs to be tested thoroughly before using or about telling people that are able to go back to work in a week or two when his so called stay away from each other plan ends. HE DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE.

My 2 cents. maybe he needs to take a few lessons on holding a press conference and take some pointers from Cuomo. I know we were not prepared for this. But blaming everyone else and not providing a positive example of how to be a leader is ridiculous. Republicans in congress are the real hold up. Protecting big business and not the small business people. Ball is in your corner wh and Just Sayin. Just show me your stupidity and say the buffoon is the greatest president ever.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Women’s Basketball 2019-2020

How about a shout out to the women's bb team. Seven in a row with a road win at E. Illinois. Really impressed with what Grace White has brought to the team. Tonite 20 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists and 2 steals.  She also has brought a toughness that the has lacked in recent years. Also Grace Hales had 25 points. Between the two of them 8 out of 14 3 pts shooting

Two different halves although Javon did not play the last 12 minutes of the first half. Really impressed with Gordon. 6 out of 8 3pt shots. Noticed in a few earlier games that he has a real sweet shot from three. Hope he stays healthy and I definitely think he deserves more playing time

As I mentioned earlier. Doubt you will ever see Nicole play. On the team but back issue I believe

Another good effort. But this team is still an incomplete team. Lack of overall size and experience has hurt  our inside defense and rebounding. Hustle and ball hawking will be our advantage for the foreseeable future.  One bad game out of three.

I want to disagree with some of the comments. Nevada shot fantastic in the first half. That is hard to overcome when you fall behind by 22. I think panic set in and we shot a lot of hasty 3 point attempts and made some questionable passes. Valpo has been shooting 36% on 3 pt shots this year which is not too bad. Yes Fazekas makes a difference. But that wave of scoring by Nevada just took VU out of its normal game. It's only one game. Lets see how we bounce back. The team still has a lot of growing up to do and it is early in the year. Yes it looked bad. But lets not all get too negative on a game where all facets of the game looked out of sorts. My 2 cents. The team is still exciting to watch.  Hope Javon did not get hurt too bad since he did not return after that drive to basket where he fell on his back.

Lets give a shout out to the Valpo Ladies as they beat undefeated Bowling Green 95-90 in overtime. A great 4th quarter comeback lead to the victory with Grace White scoring 3 points at the 20 second mark to tie the score. Ladies have had a tough schedule with 4 road games before todays home game with 2 of the road games against big 10 teams. As far as Nicole K. playing we may never see her play again do to injury.

So has anyone subscribed to the FloHoops  website to watch the games? What was the actual cost of the subscription. I understand it can be cancelled at any time. Some input woild be helpful. Thanks.

Out hustled and beat down low under the basket. NOT impressive. Offense looks confused.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Recruiting: 2020
November 12, 2019, 09:36:30 AM
Yes we have 3 scholarships open and 3 players that have verbally committed. Jacob Ognacevic a 6'8 forward from Sheboygan, WI.  Connor Barrett a 6'6 guard from Chicago who is at a prep school in the East. Sheldon Edwards a 6'4 guard from West Palm Beach who is at a prep school in Florida. Looks like a good recruiting class with some very good 3 point shooters which we need. Good to see Lotich hitting Chicago and getting these early signing period committs.

Did Fazekas get hurt on the play? He has not been in since. Hope not and if he did hope not too serious. No comment from the announcers and picture cut out for the break

Decent game. Excellent free throw shooting. Freshmen looked good at times with definite potential with obviously first home game jitters. Last 10 minutes of the second half played with none of the starters in. McMillan sat out probably due to suspension but wondering where was Krikke. Not on bench and was looking forward to see him play. Robinson. Morgan, Freeman, Sackey, Gordon play really tough defense. We look undermanned under the basket though. 3 point shooting so-so. Fazekas looked good.
Again overall played with a lot of intensity and willingness to share with the ball.

Have been checking out Ben Krikke on internet. Shoots the 3. Not a bad handle for a big guy and willing to drive the basket. Did have an offer from South Alabama. Reminds me of David Skara in many ways but with a larger frame. Lets give these new guys a break

Valpo Basketball / Re: Transfers

Regarding transfers this is a blast from the past. After the 1984-85 Valpo had 4 freshmen either quit or transfer out from an outstanding freshmen class. Larry Dougherty was a 6'4 guard from Kansas that lead the team in scoring with 14.2 pts/game. Jeff Rekeweg was a 6'6 forward from Kendallville In. who averaged 6.5 pts/gm and transferred to Nebraska. Curtis Rias was a 6'2 guard who averaged 5.8 pts/gm and played at Bishop Noll. Ron Rose was a 6'1 guard from Morton IL who only played 8 games but averaged 3.5 pts/gm before he quit. What this lead to was incoming recruit James Farr deciding not to come to VU. He was MVP of the 1984 class 2A championship game in Illinois playing for Chicago Mt. Carmel. Went on to have a decent career at Creighton. By the way the freshmen that decided to stay that year had fine careers at VU. Harry Bell, Jerome Battle and Todd Smith.

As I did not watch the game last night was there a reason why Lavender only played 10 minutes? was he injured? Was not in foul trouble according to the score sheet. Just wondering.

A couple of interesting comments on the Illinois State fan forum. One poster commenting on Javon and how the Redbirds should try to recruit Chicago more and then stated that Freeman tried to get out of the Valpo commitment. Another called him a complete showboat and not like a typical MVC player and one he will hate the rest of his career. Sour grapes on both? Did anyone watch the game and think Javon was show boating? Freeman is an exceptional freshman and leave it at that.
