Hey pals, things have escalated too much in this thread. We've turned it to 11 when it should be at 6.
Let's take a couple of Brown and Gold chill pills and simmer down. It's the off-season.

Wisco, C U Next Tournament when you're back on the bandwagon!

Anyway, it seems shady that there was an expectation that Vujic was going to be appointed to the staff.  :-X

The most fantastic tale told by VU basketball is with foreign players not knowing the difference between Valpo and Duke. I'll just say, it's no miracle that VU has landed so many international players over the years.

ValpoTx, I'm glad you gave Pgmado a lot of crap and made him earn his keep as a RA.
As I recall, he transferred to Valpo...So, hazing him as your RA made up for him missing at least his freshman year at VU.

I could give a lot to the basketball program, but my experience of previously donating to VU stunk.

Valpo Basketball / Valpo 2000-2001 Highlight Video
April 12, 2016, 01:46:04 AM
Does anyone have a VHS copy of the 2000-2001 Valpo basketball highlight video? If so, can you post it online or covert it to DVD?

Just curious. Let me know. Thanks!

I'm really confused about why people should care about what one turd-burglar newspaper writer from Fort Wayne(!) has to say about anything.

This was probably his most-successful column because all of you clicked on his article (troll bait success).

He'll probably write more of the same because it got so much feedback. Some of you need to learn to not take the bait.

Relax. Who cares? Don't take the bait. Jeez, is this your first rodeo per media trolling? Wake up. It's an honor to be trolled. Don't feed 'em.

Some pisswhistle 1.5 hours east on Route 30 has a shaded opinion? Nah, I'm good. Really, do you care? I sleep well.

In all seriousness, I think Vashil's game is still developing.

I don't understand why certain guys can be so athletic on defense and not a dominant force on offense.

It reminds me of the Ohio State center Ken Johnson. A fantastic athletic big that was a shot-blocker guru and couldn't translate his game to offense. He had a cup of coffee in the NBA.

I will never know why some can excel through physical talent on one side of the ball and be a ghost on the other. 'Tis a mystery to me.

I think Tony Vilcinskas led the nation in PSPD (packs smoked per day) and CE (cheap elbows).

Listen pal...If you can't appreciate a good "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" reference and a joke, then you need to breathe some helium and lighten up!

It's all in good fun.

We all hear things. When I was a student, a common story that went around campus was that Bryce Drew kicked people out of his apartment for cursing. Was it true? I don't know. Was it funny? Oh yeah. So, we had many laughs about that. Another tale that drifted around campus was that Bryce used to run in brand-new Polo shirts that he cut the sleeves off of. Was it true? Oh yeah. I saw it. Was it funny? Super funny. Bryce was kinda lame and tone-deaf to what was considered "cool." He was a goody-goody. However, he was authentic.

Relax ValpoDad89. We're all on the same team and we're having fun. It's the off-season! Don't be like Cameron! Be like Ferris!

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Jubril tell a Crusaderette that he was transferring to a school in Alabama. I guess it's pretty serious.

Scott, well...that's another conversation.  :-X

Ohio State assistant coach Jeff Boals will be the next head coach at Stony Brook.
We shall see what that means for the VU staff per Jake Diebler and possibly Greg Paulus.

The next time you see Paul at the bar, buy him a screwdriver and ask him about the story about all of his middle names.  ;)

Then again, I see that exact same plane has a flight from Ohio State to Nashville scheduled for today.
Is Drew adding Diebler or Paulus to his Vanderbilt staff? I'm so confused...

The return flight from Nashville didn't arrive until almost 7pm tonight. I assume that Powell left on the flight with Bryce to interview, not knowing if he had the job at that point. I'm sure he'll meet with the team soon.

Also worth noting, a round-trip flight on Thursday from Porter County to Ohio State?
Jake Diebler, come on down!!! Or, is it Greg Paulus? My bet is on the former...

Another one to South Bend. I'm not sure if that's a coincidence or if we're going to snag someone from Mike Brey's staff.

If Valpo didn't roll out a good-enough red carpet for Roger Powell, then I'm concerned.

Maybe they fear that he's job-jumper candidate in two years. Not a long-term hire. That fear I can understand.

Any reason to think that Valpo might be interested in either Jack Owens or Greg Gary of Purdue?

So, does anyone know what Vandy will pay Valpo as the buyout clause of Bryce's 10-year contract extension?

All I can tell you about my Valpo days is that Bryce Drew recommended an apartment complex that I was considering moving into.

The one thing about the place that he mentioned that he liked: It had a garbage disposal. 100% true. I thought it was an odd selling point.

Is VU providing enough garbage disposal systems for Coach Drew? This tiny thing could be the tipping point for Bryce to jump jobs.

Shout out to the Mayfield Apartments!

So Saint Louis just sent out a release: "Saint Louis University has not hired a men's basketball coach. The process is ongoing."

Vanderbilt makes too much sense.
I'm worried.
Then again, I don't know what Bryce's motivations are per his coaching career.
I mean, he has money. Does he want more?
A new challenge? Perhaps.
I don't think he's a prestige guy, so I can't imagine him taking a job just because it's a name school.
What does he want and what's his end game? How far into coaching does he want to go? Power-5? NBA?
Or, is he happy being in the Valpo bubble? Scott didn't have the same loyalty to VU, so I wasn't surprised to see him leave.

Oh, it stings and I'm still salty about this season.
I remember walking out of Nationwide Arena after the Maryland loss and thinking "We'll win 30 games next year and fix this."

Unfortunately, it is what it is. Our best team. Then again, each time Valpo is on national TV is free advertising.

Valpo needs money and it needs students. A lot of what Dr. Harre did in terms of fund-raising for the endowment fund was undone during the economic downturn. Anything that Valpo can do to earworm itself into potential students and tap into alumni is a good thing. The more TV exposure, the better. It's advertising that the university can not purchase. I would like an economist to price out the benefit of our lengthy NIT run. What seems to be the second best thing that could have happened might just end up being the best long-term thing overall. Just a thought. It might not be what we want, but it might be what we need for Valparaiso University. (silver-lining guy, signing out!)

As sad as I am about Valpo not being in the NCAAs...
Perhaps, a long-run in the NIT is more beneficial financially for VU in terms of national branding and outreach.
Each game that is played is a fantastic advertisement for VU.
Rather than a potential one and done, perhaps the NIT journey will help VU with high school applications and enrollment.
So what seemed like less initially, might actually end up being more long-term. That's my hope.
