I'm assuming this means Coach Offit has moved on.  He had the position in the Spring.

Offit is now the DC at Moravian a D3 in PA

Jessica Carrothers who was Miss Basketball runner-up last year from Crown Point. Committed to IUPUI she followed the coach to Butler. Beat out Shay Fredrick to start at PG, was Big East all freshman team.

She transferred to IUNW. Does anyone know if we tried to get her.

We sit at 9 scholarships after today. I would think one more then perhaps look at grad transfers to preserve next year's class.

The last original Mid Con school has left the Summit. Smart move in my eyes.

She officially signed with Southern Indiana. Announced yesterday.

Ali was arguably our best player as a freshman. She led all freshman in the MVC in scoring and assists. This is a blow.

I agree with WH. Re-establishes the Bosco Institute connection. Roger will make him better. We have seven slots to fill. Probably an upgrade from Emil and Joe. His coach at Von Steuben High School likes Roger. I think his brother plays for Dee Brown at Roosevelt. Nice to get a Chicago kid with upside.

Make it two and get Kobe Knox from Grand Canyon.

In terms of transfers we actually have more heading into summer than usual. Most big big name guys Washington, Dawson , Hines committed during that phase

After spring practices there seems to be increased activity so I expect us to add some.

Once again the portal shows its head. If you are an upperclassmen not ideal to try and transfer from non scholarship. Some guys will land places after spring but many depth charts are set by then

Sounds great, in reality it is a COVID senior walk on who played a total of 30 minutes in 4 years. Doesn't mean he can't contribute.

I would think with the diminishing pool of D-1 portal players we will have to scour JUCO and D-2 or NAIA schools for trransfer opportunities.  I am sure there are a some good players at that level that could make it in D-1.

There are still hundreds of D1 players available. There have to be some potential among this group. Having said that we are moving incredibly slow at this point.

Yes it was called the Rochlitz era!

I was at VU during the Rochlitz years. Expectations were modest, of course. But between some solid local signees and talented transfers, by the late 70s/early 80s, VU could field a respectable basketball team.

That was Tom Smith. Rochlitz was not very good and we spent basically nothing.

Interesting that Smith, Johnson, Lutgens and Duncan still have not announced their next job. Lutgens and Duncan still list Valpo.

As of today there are over 1200 in the portal, adding more every day. There will plenty to choose from.

Staff is completed with Joe Sengel at RB; last at University of Sioux Falls.

A little disappointed in the fan base not getting behind a good valpo basketball player who has been on the bench coaching for a long time.  He also part of national championship team and a program that has been much better than Ohio state in the last decade.

don't look to Ohio state.  Look south to the big12 and Baylor's Jared Nunes. 

I love the guy and would love to have him on the staff but in 13 years at Baylor he has been an assistant coach for 1 year. He has an a variety of roles, but...

Indiana State, Southern Illinois, UIC, Missouri State, Evansville, and Illinois State have longer droughts than we do in making the NCAA.
