The 2 deep lists a backup OL at 195 pounds. I assume this is a typo.

Former Syracuse DL Curtis Harper coming on board as DT coach. Not sure what means for Vernell Price

Valpo Director of Football Operations position posted on footballscoop in case any of you are looking for a new gig:
Valparaiso (FCS - IN): Valparaiso University is accepting applications for the position of Director of Football Operations / Recruiting. This is a full-time, 12-month position with benefits. Reporting directly to the Head Coach Football, this position will coordinate the day-to-day logistical processes and recruiting operations for the program. Please send resume, cover letter, and references to Landon Fox at landon.fox@valpo.edu.
I'm assuming this means Coach Offit has moved on. He had the position in the Spring.
Quote from: valporun on May 06, 2023, 12:05:40 AMAli was arguably our best player as a freshman. She led all freshman in the MVC in scoring and assists. This is a blow.Quote from: IndyValpo on April 14, 2023, 09:32:21 AM
PO mentioned that Ali Saunders might/was transferring. Is this true. If so that is a major loss

She officially signed with Southern Indiana. Announced yesterday.
Quote from: tiny707 on April 24, 2023, 11:49:39 AMMake it two and get Kobe Knox from Grand Canyon.
I agree with WH. Re-establishes the Bosco Institute connection. Roger will make him better. We have seven slots to fill. Probably an upgrade from Emil and Joe. His coach at Von Steuben High School likes Roger. I think his brother plays for Dee Brown at Roosevelt. Nice to get a Chicago kid with upside.
Quote from: valpofb16 on April 24, 2023, 02:05:11 PMAfter spring practices there seems to be increased activity so I expect us to add some.
Paul has some non transfer related news that should be in his primer.
In terms of transfers we actually have more heading into summer than usual. Most big big name guys Washington, Dawson , Hines committed during that phase
Quote from: valpofb16 on April 21, 2023, 05:10:40 PMThanks for this I was curious. What happened with Turner. He was really solid early then kind of fell off.
Last years portal guys

Once again the portal shows its head. If you are an upperclassmen not ideal to try and transfer from non scholarship. Some guys will land places after spring but many depth charts are set by then
Quote from: tiny707 on April 23, 2023, 03:46:41 PMSounds great, in reality it is a COVID senior walk on who played a total of 30 minutes in 4 years. Doesn't mean he can't contribute.
Lands IU transfer....
Quote from: valpo64 on April 21, 2023, 07:46:01 AMThere are still hundreds of D1 players available. There have to be some potential among this group. Having said that we are moving incredibly slow at this point.
I would think with the diminishing pool of D-1 portal players we will have to scour JUCO and D-2 or NAIA schools for trransfer opportunities. I am sure there are a some good players at that level that could make it in D-1.
Quote from: tiny707 on March 28, 2023, 07:32:44 PMI honestly thought that he played his way to a bigger offer but so far it is USI, EKU, Ball State, Nicholas State and St Bonnie
First offer to Zane is Southern Indiana? Not power five and I assume limited NIL money.
Quote from: David81 on April 05, 2023, 05:52:45 PMThat was Tom Smith. Rochlitz was not very good and we spent basically nothing.Quote from: IndyValpo on April 05, 2023, 11:40:45 AMQuote from: Valpo89 on April 05, 2023, 11:38:51 AMYes it was called the Rochlitz era!
No players. No coaches. Has VU basketball ever been in limbo this bad?
I was at VU during the Rochlitz years. Expectations were modest, of course. But between some solid local signees and talented transfers, by the late 70s/early 80s, VU could field a respectable basketball team.

Quote from: David81 on April 03, 2023, 06:10:34 PMAs of today there are over 1200 in the portal, adding more every day. There will plenty to choose from.
I don't know if this is a dumb question or not, but....
...how long does VU have to make its decision before the players who might help us have already been snatched up from the transfer portal?
Quote from: oklahomamick on March 27, 2023, 07:18:36 PMI love the guy and would love to have him on the staff but in 13 years at Baylor he has been an assistant coach for 1 year. He has an a variety of roles, but...
A little disappointed in the fan base not getting behind a good valpo basketball player who has been on the bench coaching for a long time. He also part of national championship team and a program that has been much better than Ohio state in the last decade.
don't look to Ohio state. Look south to the big12 and Baylor's Jared Nunes.
Quote from: IndyValpo on March 23, 2023, 04:17:10 PMThis post didn't age well!
If you follow Verbal Commits on twitter you will see that Valpo has been very busy contacting potential transfers. No guarantee we get anyone but we are certainly looking.
