I'm going to say yes. He's on pace for 2432 through the regular season games. I think he's 3 post season games at a minimum so that's 22 ppg in those games. He gets it.

After Green Bay beat CSU at home we're through 40 games of the HL season, 50 games to go. Here's your alternate standings

Mark Alstork (6'5")is the guy we need to limit.  He had 24 against Oakland. My guess is Shane will get the call.

I'm thinking Tevonn gets Alstork while Shane gets Benzinger. It'll be interesting to see how we match up as they can go small to neutralize our bigs. I could see us going into the 1-3-1 zone we were playing against Green Bay.

Move us to a 12 and you get the ND - Valpo game we've been waiting for....

Or if we beat Duke and ND wins, you could have the Lutheran Miracle II

Can we make a note that no other HL team made the list.

The only conferences that had multiple teams on the list were the A10 (a regular multiple bid league and a borderline mid-major), Missouri Valley (our "dream conference"), The Mountain West and the West Coast Conference (It helps that Gonzaga raised that conference's profile).

The American East, Big Sky, Ivy League, MAAAAAAC, OVC, Southern Independant and WAC were all included.

Kyletology (my own evolving formulaic way of figuring out the bracket that's frankly a little ) has Valpo at a 13 seed and we're playing Duke. Right now that game would take place in Milwaukee, but knowing the NCAA they will find a way to get Duke in South Carolina. The other teams in Milwaukee: #3 Butler playing #14 Princeton, #5 Notre Dame playing #12 Nevada and #6 South Carolina playing the winner of Oklahoma St and Utah.

Stephen Davis is their starting 6'8" center.  He shots about 36% from 3.  Including 3-5 today.   Smits/Sorolla can't guard out at the 3 point line (see Santa Clara game, who also had a center out there hitting 3's).   This is the sort of game that you miss Jubril.  Smits/Sorolla are doing better, but teams who have gotten them away from the basket and forced them to switch a lot and fight through screens have really exposed our defense.

McClain is a good recruiter, but not a great coach and UIC doesn't have the 3 point shooting forwards to expose weakness.  That is the sort of team that simply can't matchup against us.  Teams like Wright State and Oakland (who are feast and famine from the 3) are the ones that pose real threats when they are hitting.

Well if he gets 3 of 5, let's hope they have him guarding Jaume and Derrik. They can each get 3 of 5 from down low and that's 12 points for us vs. 9 points for them.

With Lexus, Max, Tevonn, Joe, Bakari and anyone else I'm leaving out at guard we might as well go after big guys.

The only guards we will have in 2018-2019 as of right now is Micah and Bakari. For bigs we'll have Derrik, Jaume, and Mileek. We are going to need a big recruiting class of guards coming in next season so we can replace Lexus, Max, Tevonn and Joe and preferably have them in the system for a season so we're not playing freshmen heavy rotation minutes.

KenPom has them as "Illinois Chicago" to throw one more way they are listed.

How about we all just agree to call the Flames.

Don't tell the UIC fans that someone referred to them as "Illinois Chicago".
I'm with UIC fans on that one.

They should really complain to the NCAA website. They are listed at "Ill.-Chicago". And that annoys me when I'm trying to compile RPI stats and figure out who is in my NCAA bracket

I would say scoring and assists are also an area where it's impressive if you're in the top. That would include the following:

Scott Anselm   1985-89
Tracy Gipson   1989-93
Bryce Drew   1994-98
Milo Stovall   1998-02

One of the crazy things is Rowdy is on all three of these lists.

Here's the other crazy one, Tevonn is going to be in the top 10 for steals at the end of his career.

some created a #LetJubrilPlay account and tweeted that meme at ML, Coach Lottich, Jubril and Alec lol

Yeah I got tweeted at along with Rowdy, Buggs, E. Victor, Smits, Lexus and Dority. Odd that I'm part of that group...

I think this might be a tough game. They beat up on the bottom half of the league so far, and might have their confidence built up. Their only losses so far are to us and Oakland, arguably the top teams in the conference. And with a good chance of being 4-2 coming here it'd be a good game to give a team their third loss.

I do like the one page visualization. Remind us how the points work?

1 point for a road win, -1 point for a home loss. 0 for Home wins and Road losses because you're expected to do those things. Last season we had 7 points. 6 points should win you the conference (That'd be 14-4 if you win all your home games).

Valpo Basketball / Re: Alec Peters - Senior edition
January 17, 2017, 09:56:19 AM
So Alec has broken the Field Goals Made Record and the Rebound record. He's 7 points shy of breaking the scoring record. What other records should we start watching to fall?

1. Games Played: Erik Buggs (2008-13) - 138
Alec Peters - 124
There's 12 games remaining, not including the Horizon League Tournament. So Alec has 137 games minimally. Win one HL tournament game, get one post season game and Alec has broken the record.

2. Free Throws Made: Ed Eckart (1953-57) - 452
Alec Peters - 433
Alec is averaging 6.6 FTM per game. That's 3 more games that he should break the record.

3. Single Season Points: 1. Bruce Lindner (1969-70) - 725
Alec Peters - 454
Alec is averaging 23.8 ppg. He needs 22.6 ppg to get to 725 in the games guaranteed (not including HL tournament games). He's on pace for 740 this season. This should be attainable, but it will probably happen in the HL Tourney.

4. Free Throw Percentage: 1. Casey Schmidt (1993-94) - 92.6%
                                                  2. Dick Jones (1966-67) - 89.7%
                                                      Casey Schmidt (1992-93) - 89.7%

Alec Peters - 90.0%
It's certainly possible. I feel like it'd be hard for him to fall out of the top 10 (Lance Barker (1994-95) - 87.8%)

5. Career FT Percentage: 1. Chuck Kriston 1960-63 86.5%
                                                   Dick Jones 1965-68 86.5%
                                               3. Bruce Lindner 1967-70 85.2%
                                               5. Lavonte Dority 2012-14 83.8%
                                               6. Bryce Drew 1994-98 83.4%

Alec Peters - 84.6%
If Alec keeps shooting at his current rate he'll end up at 85.4%. He's got a shot at the career record. If he hits the next 24 FTs he'll be in 3rd (he's done it already this season). If he shoots 96% over his next 100 FTs he'll be tied with Chuck and Dick.

6. Rebounds per game: 1. Joel Oberman (1971-75) - 9.9
                                           7. Ken Rakow (1964-67) - 7.7
                                           9. Ed Eckart (1953-57) - 6.8

Alec Peters - 7.3
If Alec continues his pace he will finish his career with 7.6 RPG. He'd be really close to moving into 7th place, but he's entrenched himself in the top 10.

He'll end up in the top 10 in nearly every scoring category and rebounding category. Pretty easy to say he's the best Valpo has seen.

The tweet from PO has disappeared. I saw where Jubril tweeted "me neither" but nothing from Peters. Then it just went away.

On the internet nothing truly disappears.

Here's the alternate look at the HL standings right now. The loss to Oakland was bad, but we're winning the road games we need to. Tonight is obviously a big night in the HL.

Here's some screenshots from the top players on KenPom.com. Earlier this year Alec cracked their top 10 Player of the Year standings, and I'm thinking with another stretch of 25 and 10s he could be right back in there.

Valparaiso vs. Baylor

Sunday:
Baylor vs. Butler
Valparaiso vs. Vanderbilt

The conference shot 63% from the free throw line last night and missed 63 free throws. I guess they're all not the 3rd best FT shooting team in the country.

Because asking the high school beat reporter is much better than going to the guy who is actually on the Valpo beat...

Well now I'm guilty of feeding the troll.

I wonder how many of these are done by the coach, and how many by an assistant, or a manager, or such like. I bet Kampe does his.

Kampe's been asked about his during his coach's show. He 100% does his and says he watches a lot of non-prep work college basketball.
