Any one knows what was Bryce Teed for? what was he complaining about?

This will not happen. If you and I can see that it will hurt their recruiting, I am sure the B10 recruiters know that as well.

Valpo Basketball / Re: VU @ UWM Sunday 2/15 1pm tip

Tevonn's dunk was the turning point in this game. This game had a Trap game written all over it but our

It is hard to believe that so much leadership and maturity is shown by a bunch of freshmen and sophomores. I continuously have to remind myself that Skara and Walker are only freshmen... oh and Alec is only a year older.

The future is bright...and so is the present.

I think the game is blacked out on the network because it is on TV. CSN chicago. Channel 201 if you have comcast.

Imagine if the valpo admissions office had to apply title IX to balance the female/male enrollments at the university.
Imagine telling a young woman that she has what it takes to succeed in college but she won't have that chance because there are only X men, and therefore only X women will be admitted!!!!

That's exactly what title IX does to young men who are golfers, swimmers, wrestlers, or even soccer players.

What a scary lineup, especially when you think that Max Joseph and Relvao (red shirt maybe?) and the UMKC transfer will also be there waiting for an opportunity. This a really really deep and diverse (in terms of talents) team.

Bryce coached a heckuva game. The plays he called to break the zone defense are absolutely genius. Also as someone already mentioned, having T-Walker pass the timeline before handing the ball to E. also drastically reduced the number of turnovers.
If you told me before the game that Alec will shoot 2-8, and the whole team will shoot 25% from behind the arc, on the road in front of 7500 fans, I would have never guessed we won the game. Hats off to the whole team and especially the coaching staff.

Fwiw, I heard president Heckler recently talking about the chapel addition and the planned new science building being the last buildings to be erected in the foreseeable future. He mentioned that the new campaign includes no new buildings and will focus on growing the university endowment funds.
He wisely said that the university facilities have grown a lot in the recent past and he wants to see the endowments grow accordingly to make sure that the university can keep up with the operation and maintenance costs of these new buildings.
That being said, if someone wants to donate $50M to build a rec center or arena, I'm sure president Heckler will be willing to listen  ;D

Seeing how he's had multiple hip surgeries... the E. prefix could probably mean "Enhanced".  ;D

I have a feeling that Jubril will be the nicest surprise to all of us this year. With a year under his belt, the game will slow down a bit for him and he will have a breakout season. Mark my words!

Does anyone know the practice times?
Thanks.

Thank you Mark, your input is appreciated.
I follow a MAC team and they always say that they have the same issue of not finding a home and home partner.
Did the two conferences ever consider a Horizon vs MAC challenge? It makes great sense (geographically) and it is working great for the Big10 and the ACC.
Thanks.

As a VU professor I can guarantee you that student-athletes are NOT held to any lower standards whatsoever here in Valpo. The only thing they get away with is missing a class and making up late work if they are competing on the road.

I hope he doesn't end up at Cleveland State. You know, across the street from the arena where his father is coaching.

Count me also with a3uge. I think we should stop worrying about Butler and what they do.

I just visited the thread from last year and I can't believe that LVD was considered an "awful PG and useless player". Since I didn't follow the team last year, I am not sure if he really was bad last year or if the poster is just a LVD hater. I honestly think that he is our second best player after Jubril this year.

Apostle: This is a very delicate subject my friend. I am not trying to pick an argument or offend any body. I am simply trying to be the devil's advocate here and shed a light on the issue from a different perspective.

First of all: I am not aware of a UNIVERSITY with a buccaneer or a pirate for mascot. I am not saying there aren't any, but I am not aware of them so my guess is that it is not that common.

Second: A knight, a fighter, etc... are soldier figures that people from all cultures and backgrounds can support, respect, and admire. A crusader is a little more polarizing. A crusader is a very specific soldier in the army of the pope that was created to fight "others". Those "others" are now some of our students, alums, faculty, and even recruits.

That is a big difference.

With the recent growth of the University and the emphasis on diversity and inclusiveness of "Others", I will not be surprised to hear about this issue again.
Not to start a controversy or anything, but the crusades were military actions and do not exactly relate to education or learning communities. I am not sure why a university would want its students to be the crusaders.

This was a fun game to watch. Lavonte is so confident and effective. Most importantly, he is the emotional leader of this group.

Vashil created a no fly zone. While the stats only show 4 blocks, I think he changed 10 others just because GB players saw him there and either didn't take the shot or took an uncomfortable one.

Lexus & Alec are very promising for the future. I hope Bryce can keep recruiting at this level. I can't wait to see them with a year or two of experience under their belts.

Jubril: I don't think too many people appreciate the importance of this guy. He is not the most athletic player, He doesn't have the prettiest shot, and he does not block too many shots. In other words, his work does not show in the box score but man oh man! The guy has the built of an NBA small forward. I had the privilege to watch Lebron James as a HS senior. You can laugh at me if you want, but Jubril is the closest 18 year old kid to that 2002 kid in Akron, OH. The only (and major difference) is that Lebron had a faster first step.

Jubril can guard any opposing player in a HL team, you can't switch on him. He's fast enough to guard the 1 and strong enough to stop the 5. He moves his feet amazingly well and sets incredible screens (or shall I say walls) without fouling. He boxes out and rebounds like a boss. The only thing he needs to work on IMHO is a mid distance jumper.

On The Horizon / Re: We would like to have you back...

Butler is a very young team in a rebuilding season. They have a rookie coach with 6 freshmen on the roster in a tough conference.
Did you really expect them to take the big east by storm?
Let's revisit this thread in 5 years, and if they're still in the same position, we can welcome them back. As of now, they made the right move, they are getting better exposure and making more $$$. That's the reality.

I appreciate the help.

We will have 4 scholarships opening up next year: Lavonte, Capo, Moussa, and Coleman, right?
How many are already taken (Nickerson?) or is he already on scholarship? How many spoken for (offered and verbally committed), and how many still available?
Thanks.

I understand that this team has 3 freshmen getting significant playing time, but in the same time, the team features 4 seniors.
So how do you define a young team?
#125
This was a 3 point shoot out. It came down to whoever could score more 3 pointers and unfortunately, Bader prevailed in the end.
I am a relatively new fan, so I don't pretend to know it all but I think that this team is better than the "live by the 3, die by the 3" situation it is currently playing in. We need Jubril to develop faster so we can go to him in the paint when the 3 is not falling.
