QuoteIs the Big Dance about selecting "the best teams" or is it about selecting "the teams that earned it most" in the regular season? That question is at the crux of the debate. Based on the last two NCAA Tournaments, the selection process relies more heavily on resume while seed placement is more dependent on quality.

QuoteThere are currently nine teams that are ineligible for the 2022 tournament due to various reasons. Bellarmine, California Baptist, Dixie State, Merrimack, North Alabama, Oklahoma State, St. Thomas, Tarleton State, and UC San Diego. Also note that the Ivy League canceled their season. This means that there is one extra at-large bid available this year.
For being so smart, the Ivy League sure is stupid :)
The Ivy League cancelled all games last year, not this year.

Sucks to be the OVC. Lose both of your perennial champion and at-large programs.

One hell of a good game between Kansas and Texas Tech last night. If you missed it but want pure entertainment and excitement, watch it on re-run on ESPN+
That game was March Madness quality in January.

A few days ago, Loyola Chicago was a 7 seed. I saw one bracketologist put them as a 10 seed after their recent loss. Lunardi has them in the "kiss of death" bracket at a 9 seed. I'd rather be a 10 seed than an 8 or 9 seed.
Lunardi:
CONFERENCE BREAKDOWN
CONFERENCE
TEAM
Big 12 8
Big Ten 7
Big East 7
SEC 6
ACC 5
WCC 4
Pac-12 4 (Conference of Champions)
Mountain West 3
If Valpo were to shock the world and win Arch Madness, the following posts will appear within 5 minutes of the final buzzer sounding:
- "We are going to get a terrible seed, probably 14, which never would have happened if we had a coach who knew how to get everyone on the same page sooner."
- "I'm embarrassed for the league that we got in. Don't get me wrong or anything, I'm happy we won, but it would have been better for the league if we would have lost."
- "I'm going to go over to the MVC board and apologize."
- "Lottich caught lightning in a bottle. This won't happen again in 100 years as long as he's our coach."
- "Oh great, now they'll renew Lottich's contract for sure."
Thank you Nostradamus.

More than a few have both Drake and Loyola penciled in their brackets.
