I saw the same video.  Very impressive indeed!  One problem:  IT'S THE WRONG TAYLOR RICHARDS!! This young lady is from Fruitport Calvary, in Michigan.

The Taylor Richards who gave a verbal to Valpo is from Doylestown, Ohio.

Taylor Richards highlight video

Thanks for catching that mistake. I should have known by her year of graduation. I removed the wrong video.

I couldn't find a video of the Taylor Richards from Doylestown Chippewa but I was able to find some pictures.

I did notice that one of the people that made a comment about her commitment to Valpo on her twitter page was a Grayson Rose from Garrettsville Garfield HS. In her comment Rose said she looked forward to playing against Richards in college. Grayson Rose has committed to Northern Kentucky.

Moving this from the prior women's basketball thread to the current.....here is more recruiting news.

We apparently got a verbal from a guard from South Bend St Joe (Nicole Koniecnzy).

Watch her highlites in this video.  Great motor and all over the floor.  Looks like a very good get!

She was an SMU commit before a coaching change made her reopen the recruiting process.  I agree that this seems like a very good get.

Another 2017 women's basketball recruit.  Ella Ellenson a 6'2 forward from Rice Lake, Wisconsin has given her verbal commit to VU.  She is the younger sister to Henry Ellenson, former Mr. Basketball in Wisconsin who played at Marquette University one year and was drafted #18 by the Pistons in 2016. Ella averaged 15.4 pts and 7.5 rebounds per game as a Junior. She is the third young lady to give a verbal commit to VU for 2017.

To be fair to all of Ella's siblings here is Ella with her brother, Wally, who also played basketball at Marquette this past season with his brother, Henry, but has quit basketball to concentrate on his track and field career in the high jump. Wally was a 4 time All-American in the high jump.

Maybe Henry might be able to catch one of Ella's games during the next few Horizon League tournaments. At least their parents might be able to kill 2 birds with one stone if the Pistons are playing at home during the HL tournament in Detroit. There's also a chance the Valpo women's team might be playing Oakland or UDM in Michigan while the Pistons are playing a home stretch. There's also a slight chance that the Pistons could be on the road at Milwaukee, Chicago or Cleveland while the Valpo women are playing at UWM, UIC or Cleveland State.

So are these signings a step in the right direction or will the women's team continue to be turrrrrible?

My guess is that we will see a great deal of improvement this year although it will still be a very young team with only two seniors.  It is clear that the effort has been made to add size and this freshman class includes two kids 6'2", two kids 6'0" and one 5'7".  Ella is also 6'2"  and Nicole Koniecnzy is said to have high major talent having walked away from a scholarship from SMU. So we will be a lot bigger.  How that plays out is anybody's guess...
