I would put that 2001-2002 team up against any other in Valpo history.  We were predicted to upset Kentucky in the first round, and ran into a Keith Bogans/Tayshaun Prince (on defense) buzz saw.  For those that say our Mid-Con teams could not compete with our HL or MVC teams, 2001-2002 would give you a reality check.

I was at the game against Kentucky in St. Louis and remember it fondly. Grafs certainly was the stud of the game, but Barton remains one of the best to ever wear a Valpo uniform.

If only Falu wouldn't have had personal issues and left early that year, as I recall, we might have done bigger things than we already had done.

I was at the Arizona tournament, where we played West Virginia and Arizona. Easily beat West Virginia and went toe-to-toe with a very good Arizona team (and frankly lost on a bad call on a three point shot). Then, Valpo went and played at Kansas and played them even for most of the game. I am not advocating moral victories, but that 2001-2002 team was as good of a Valpo team as I even saw. While 1998 is the most historic, I would say that 2001-2002 and 2015-2016 were the best teams.

Great point about Falu in 2001-2002.
