Eric "Always Strapped" Lemon
Update: I am no longer enrolled at Valparaiso University. It was a great school but it just wasn't for me. I am now at Ferris State. I love you all. -#1 on the field, #1 in your hearts

It kinda makes you wonder what Eric means by "It was a great school but it just wasn't for me"? Was he there more for the excitement of playing football for a new coach, or was there something else involved with all the losing?

Thanks! That works. I usually click on the thread group that has new posts, then look at what threads have new entries, but if I've been gone for awhile, I won't always remember what page of a thread I was on, or if a new page was added to a thread, I will go back one page and hopefully find where I left off. I just liked have the different font color for pages viewed to pages yet to be viewed.

Is there a way to change the font color for threads with multiple pages, so that you know which pages you've viewed? I don't really want to have to guess which page I left off on, if I happen to be gone for a few days, or if the thread didn't have new posts to it for a few days before someone adds to it.

As a random aside, the title of this thread "New Arts & Sciences building" still throws me!

It's true that the building is intended, more or less, for the college of arts and sciences.  But, it's not to be confused with the VUCA (for many "arts"), nor with Neils Science Center (or its proposed replacement).

I think of it more as a "humanities" building.  We'll see what they actually name it!  I suppose they're still hoping for a donor, and would happily call it, wait, what's his name?  Hromadka Hall?

It will probably hold some of the humanities courses, or some of the smaller classes for "majors only", if the class will have small enrollment. Also, it will be the office spaces for those who were over in Huegli for many decades. I guess that's where the "arts & sciences" comes from, since most of the professors who had offices in Huegli taught the "arts & sciences" of thinking, more than art or science.

are we picking play-in games, thereby requiring our picks to be in earlier?

No... brackets lock on Thursday.

awesome - i appreciate that. i don't know if i'm gonna have time to make my picks before tuesday evening.

I think most bracket groups online are going with due in by Thursday. Traditional paper bracket groups may have discussed this ahead of time, so that people knew to get their brackets in by Monday night-ish or say Tuesday at 5PM? I wouldn't be too surprised if this doesn't change in a couple of years, depending on how the field of 68 works, plus how impacting the First Four games will affect the traditional first round games.

Since we turned the clocks ahead an hour today for DST, I am just guessing we will turn back the calendar a decade and host Oral Roberts in the CIT. Who knows, it might be fun to see ORU again.

That would bring eaglebackr back to our board temporarily...I am not hoping for this outcome lol

It all depends on if he can find the new board. Let's hope no one points out the new board to him.

That's been one of my thoughts: how embarrassing is it to have the double-bye and then come out and lay an egg in the semis?  It's not *quite* all it's cracked up to be.

"Egg"-cellent observation, Stl!

If we get an NIT, CBI, or CIT spot, we'll know Sunday evening into early Monday morning about what will happen.

Does the NIT host a selection show?  I have a dim recollection that they usually have their act together (easiest for the established 2nd choice, certainly) and announce their field fairly promptly.

I remember best the inaugural CBI, when it took a good long while for the chips to fall.

The NIT does not host a selection show, but it also would not surprise me if the head of that committee is not sitting in the hub of the selection committee's hotel space finding out which teams he can invite out of those who were on the bubble.

Not true.  You can watch the selection show at 8pm CST Sunday night on ESPNU

NIT Selection Show Information

I stand corrected once again. I'm new to having ESPNU as one of my cable choices, so I was never aware that ESPNU hosts an NIT Selection Show.

Yes, some of his field is already determined by the regular conference champions who don't win their conference tourneys, and don't get an at-large NCAA bid (Pitt comes to mind there). I believe it is within a couple of hours that most of the schools know where they are playing in the NIT, and what travel matters they have to take care of. I'm sure bus or air travel for the NIT is set by the NIT committee, not sure who pays for those flights or buses. The CBI had to wait for the NIT field to be announced, and if I remember correctly, Valpo didn't know until after midnight about playing in the CBI and where they would be going?

Is it just me, or do many of us complain about how easy the Big East schedules in non-conference, only to have it bite them in the butt during the conference season, but yet when it comes to the Big East Tournament, they have one of the most exciting tournaments of all the conference tournaments? I swear they have had so many games that left you dangling about how it was going to end, or who was going to win, but each game, for the most part has lived up to its expectations.

What are some of the other conference tournaments fans have paid attention to, whether on the men's or women's side? Thought it would be a fun way to see what people are doing this week in getting ready for the CBS side of March Madness. I've watched or listened to games from the Big East, America East, Southland, Horizon, Big 12, Patriot, Ivy, SWAC, and I'm definitely sure of a couple others I will add as the week plays out. I could have done a poll, but that means taking time away from the games. I may add one later though... HAPPY CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK!!!
