We are 4-6 but this has been a very good year for VU football.

(1) Currently we are 4-3 in the PFL, and all 3 losses have been by 7 points or less

(2) our 3 nonconference opponents have a combined 3 losses

(3) this year's schedule was by far the toughest VU has ever played.

We are one late fourth quarter first down against San Diego from being .500.  We can finish 5-6 with a win Saturday against Morehead State.  Coach Fox has done an excellent job this year IMO.

78 couldn't agree more 5 of our losses extremely justifiable , one went to overtime.

Let's hope for minimal attrition, an uptick in the offense (whether that be through a new OC or more experience) and see what next year holds

Anyone know the non conference opponents? Would love a ham and egger like DePauw or Wabash

Illinois State and Dartmouth on the road.

Nothing else at the moment.

There go my hopes for a somewhat easier schedule next year.

All we need is to find another 4 star running back and all will be well!  ::)

The extent to which the team has gotten better can't be understated.  It is always difficult to compare results but I will anyway.

Butler lost their opener on the road to Illinois State 49-7.  We beat them at home, 47-3

Butler lost to first place Davidson at home, 49-35. We beat them also at home, 47-3

Great stuff and although we lose a LOT of experienced talented players, I think Coach Fox has the team going strongly in the right direction.

I presume a 4-7 season for Valpo is very good as we continue our commitment to mediocrity.

Next year the team will need to schedule a couple of cupcakes as OOC opponents so they can make their collective record look better.

valpofb16

Usc4valpo that is a very ironic comment for against a school that puts out relative mediocrity with the least, while your username suggests supporting a school that puts up relative mediocrity with the most resources

Totally fair statement, but I never said USC is having a very good season nor is consistency of mediocrity accepted at USC. Hopefully things will get better with a new coaching staff.

A 4-7 record is certainly improvement but not a very good season despite a challenging OOC schedule. I give Fox credit for a decent coaching performance.

Essentially Valpo was 4-4. The 3 games vs. OOC opponents weren't going to be won and probably by any PFL team. Dartmouth is 9-1 and Indiana Wesleyan also 9-1. NDSU no PFL is going to match up against.

Not that it really matters but we may be picking up a forfeit win over IWU. They had a forfeit they're 1st Round NAIA Playoff game for use of an ineligible player in several games.

4-4 in the conference should have been 6-2 with victories over USD and Marist. It would be a better conversation had that happened.

USC I was just joking. Have a few friends that are USC fans. Love poking the bear.

Certainly, one of the highlights of the season was playing competitive with Dartmouth.  And how about pasting Butler for three wins against them in the same calendar year?  The team played with enthusiasm and seemed to have fun.

JD24

Dartmouth was 9-1 and won their second straight Ivy League title. Valpo was more competitive in their game than many of the opponents of Dartmouth.
