Even more surprising is that Mo Kone is still going strong at 40, Dan Oppland at 38, and Hrvoje Vucic has turned out to be a solid Croatian League player.

Bryce Drew with some insightful comments about Darius Garland, former Gary resident, son of Winston, and former Valpo hoops camper, and soon to be all-star.

Wow, I just noticed that Keifer Sykes has made the big leagues!  He was last playing on the same team as Rowdy in Australia.  I just looked at the Mavs box score, seeing a 'K. Sykes,' and had to check out:

It's time for a change. Brian is a former Valpo Basketball player himself.

With all due respect to those that came before us, he would remember the teams that he was on:

1989-1990 - 4-24 (1-11)
1990-1991 - 5-22 (2-14)
1991-1992 - 5-22 (2-14)
1992-1993 - 12-16 (7-9)

We got spoiled for a good 20-25 seasons.  We've had 22 of our last 29 seasons with winning records overall, and 24 of our last 29 conference seasons at .500 or above, all occurring shortly after his time.  Not many programs, whether low-major, mid-major, or P5, can claim such a long period of continuous success.  I can only think of Murray State, Belmont, Gonzaga, Creighton, and Buck Futler, as having similar runs, tied to the non-P5.

Wow.  Agree PO.  You have to be an incredibly strong person to speak out on your struggles like he did.  God bless Rowdy.

This Ryan Broekhoff interview damn near broke me.

Very authentic guy, and it is amazing to put that in perspective with what he mentions in this interview, tied to his childhood.  When I arranged the Mavs game and meet-and-greet for the Valpo Club of DFW (I am somehow the leader of this group) during his first season in the NBA, he and his representation were fantastic.  I actually got his agent's contact information from his mom, due to this forum and direct messaging.  He seemed to be very appreciative that 30-35 Valpo alumni came to watch him play, and spent a good 1-2 hours with us after the game.

Wow, thanks for sharing.  I'm glad Rowdy is in a better place now.  What an incredible guy.

JO's stats at Lipscomb are a tale of 2 halves.

PPG
17.7 1st 15 games
  5.5 last 15 games
12.2 season average

Minutes
28 1st 15
12 last 15
20.5 average

Record
  7-8 1st 15
5-10 last 15

This huge swing coincided with JO losing his startiing position when another big man became eligible at mid season. Without knowing any more information than that, is seems strange that not only did he start coming off the bench, he went from playing heavy minutes to barely playing double digit minutes. I also wonder if he's going to look at their record and think that results were better when he was the starter amd the other guy wasn't even there. That kind of thing can make a player very unhappy as he's watching them lose game after game from his seat on the bench. He still has 3 years of eligibility remaining. Might he transfer yet again?

I believe that Ahsan was injured, which is why JO was receiving that early playing time.  Ahsan was their top player over the last few seasons

I miss when Valpo Basketball was good. It kills me to see how far we've fallen the last few years. It's not just the league switch, imo. We are out Coached out there. We need a change

That photo was taken right after we won the HL.

I enjoyed watching those players.  They each had roles.  They each loved each other.  Just a good brand of basketball.

On this date, March 9, nine years ago, a great night! This was my view of the shot as I was sitting next to the cameraman underneath the basket.

Chairback

This might be my favorite of Rowdy's shot because it focuses in on the fan's reactions.

Look at this place and the energy it had.

What the hell happened to us...

Look at the crowds during the regular season.  No wonder why MVC wanted us.  6 years seems such a long time ago.

Maybe our success was due to the baggy shorts we wore back then.
I believe that we will win.

Looks like Markus Golder is playing for the Vancouver Volcanoes in The Basketball League.

The Basketball League president is Dave Magley, 1978 Mr. Basketball and alum of South Bend LaSalle (and HS teammate of former Crusader Brian Hubbard).

I've also seen former Crusader Chandler Levingston-Simon play a few games in The Basketball League.  His dad Cliff, is the coach of the Kokomo BobKats.  I enjoyed chatting with Cliff before a game last Sunday at Lebanon.

Wasn't it Dave Magley that wore some kind of shoulder harness in high school due to a shoulder injury? I seem to remember someone wearing that harness during the state basketball tournament.

He did have some kind of shoulder issue when he played at Kansas.

Eron Gordon is on the Houston Rockets Summer League roster, which I have to believe is tied to his brother.  Congrats to him, of course, but that is the only reason that would make sense
