I found this on Google maps.  Stunning!

Valparaiso University
https://maps.app.goo.gl/7EfSh3ChzfXaPSybA

From that it appears the Phi Psi house has not been built.  It seems pretty up to date in that the former Broadway Cafe is gone and is a nice patch of verdant green grass now lol.

...a year and a half later.  Is the Phi Psi house completed?

"Cheryl Schrader not Cheryl Schroeder (those of us who went to school with her realize that confusion on this is more than just a typo)"

What does that mean?

That Forbes ranking is insulting.  There is no way dozens of schools on there I can think of should be ahead of us in ranking.  #384?  Really?

Did anyone attend Homecoming and want to give us their impression of the changes on campus?  Maybe even have pics?   :)

Why and how are Creighton, Butler, and Drake better than us?  Does anyone know why they continue to edge us out?  Particularly when we score so high (1st) in undergraduate teaching and other side-categories?

...and what can we do to rise into the top 3?

Wow, that's great to know.  Thanks for the advice about Snap Chat, I'll def try it.  I am always wondering about the progress of construction projects and frustrated because I can't find anything using Google.  LOL

I was hoping maybe locals could occasionally post pic updates or even just verbal updates on campus construction projects for us curious out-of-town alumni?  For instance the big one now is the new science building, but whenever I have looked on the web for a pic they are just nowhere to be found.

Does anyone have a pic to share or can just tell us at what stage the science building currently stands?  Pretty pleeaase??

Thanks!

Quote from: valpo64 on November 18, 2016, 01:03:26 PMA pool? There are much more important things as far as facilities go for the University...like the ARC!!!!

Umm...  not sure I like the tone of disrespect for my sport.  lol

Yes, a pool!  I mean, I'm not saying make the focus on a pool above all other things.  I'm just saying make a pool PART of plans for athletic improvements in general.  I don't pretend that swimming is as important to Valpo as basketball, but we DO have a swimming team, and they do need an appropriate place for a NCAA Div 1 team to practice and hold meets.  The entire school's rep is negatively affected when visiting universities come to that atrocious facility for meets.  I'm sure they giggle all the way home and shake their head at our facility.  They were doing that 20 years ago when I was on the team.

I graduated 22 years ago and was on the Valpo Men's Swimming team.  Even THEN the pool was old, inadequate, and embarrassing.  I can't believe over 20 years later in 2016, a NCAA Division I Swim Team is still using that pool.  I hope that there is some sort of aquatic facility upgrade plan in play, but I have not seen or heard anything.  Even in the Master Plan, I don't recall any mention of a new pool.  If anyone has any information on any plans for an aquatic facility upgrade, please let us know!

I noticed how someone removed the KKK connection story from Valparaiso University's Wikipedia article.

Well, I'm not saying it just because of one article.  I just think that there is and has been a feeling of "second rate-ness" to the law school as opposed to the first rate undergraduate colleges.  I would just prefer VU to focus on what it does well and continue to nurture the reputable undergraduate colleges without having its much less acclaimed law school dragging its reputation down.

Awesome.  Thanks!  Looks good.

This is really a shame.  So unfortunate.  Reputation is so important (more so than I think many people realize) and can be seriously damaged very easily and quickly with press like this.  I feel that VU should cut its losses and get rid of the Law School altogether.  The only times I have ever heard Valparaiso University mentioned negatively nationally have always been in relation to the Law School.  Remember the Hollywood film "The Judge" with Robert Downey Jr.?  It's a drain on the reputation of the rest of the school at large.  I'd prefer VU to focus on being a stellar undergraduate university.

Out of curiosity, where does this project currently stand?  A google search provides zero information on this after last summer.  Isn't it seriously delayed?  I would imagine students should be moving into it in the fall.  A pic would be greatly appreciated if someone has (or can take) one.
