Valpo Football / Re: Week 7 @Morehead State

Well, whatever the game plan was for Morehead, it certainly won't work for Dayton.  Need to tighten up defense and our QB's to take advantage of his players when wide open.

Heartbreaking and frustrating, plenty of opportunities to score went up in smoke, even with minimum 2 plays left in game, the dang announcer was excitedly saying Jernegan in the endzone wide open...Then moaned, Kaplan doesn't see him.  Has anyone found out why a different kicker wasn't used when clearly Barthlomew was off?  At least we've seen some very impressive freshmen getting it done.

Gotta stop being predictable, period.  Its pretty hard to win against a team that knows what your gonna do, lol.

Be wary of that other team (who shall not be named, lol) as their stats indicate their QB is also their leading rusher.  Which means he knows how to get through, argh.  :-\

Valpo is only going to get stronger, I'm sure Dartmouth will come prepared, but so will we, lol.  Hopefully Appel will be ready by then.

I think its a awesome idea to use VU journalist students photo journalists to cover all VU games.  VU students could apply to local papers to be interns (which don't get paid) but instead get crerdit from VU.  Plus it would look great on students future resumes when they graduate.  Plus they'd get real life work experience and school credit at same time.  win win people.

It was a great game, no doubt about it.  For me Dawson is better than Washington, he's more creative in his running manuvers, very smooth.  Also thought it was a brilliant move using 2 QB at same time, on same play (where Kaplan scored the TD and I really appreciated it when freshman Jernegan (TE) made an amazing catch giving Valpo a first down on the 50 (which turned out, set it up for the winning field goal) because ref blew a call.  Enjoyed the crowd energy and team camaraderie.  Overall I'd say Valpo coaching is looking very smart with their creative, unpredictable plays.  I'm looking forward to next game already, lol.

I'm pulling for Kaplan as starting QB

Its ok, I'd rather Valpo was underestimated than overestimated.  Plus teams on top tend to get over confident & complacent.

I'd like to see Valpo understand they have WR and TE that'll also get them first downs as well as TD's...  Almost every play revolves around the RB (which every opponent knows & plans for).

Looks like Valpo needs to upgrade its offensive plays.  Running Washington up the middle every time doesn't work.

In typical political fashion those who made up the list to vote on, insured the results they wanted by loading the poll with lame choices.  Valpo should throw that poll out and let the students choose their mascot or at least the surrounding community.  Keep in mind, the mascot shows the schools athletic teams "spirit of competition".  Which spark, gold and beacon don't do.  From the looks of it the poll is heavily slanted towards dunehawks (only one that reflects fierceness).  I just don't see any other of those choices lasting or working out.

Not sure that committee took the mascot/schools image seriously.  Golden Knights should be obvious choice or Paladins.  And I don't see what a "dunehawk" has to do with lutheran religion...   What a mess.

Since I've never heard of any hate group using the term "crusader" it would tremendously help if the faculty who want the change actually named the hate groups they're referring to.

Try counting how many schools use "rams" or "dogs"etc.  Also Golden Knights is already in use by high schools and Vegas team.  So Paladins would work as a Paladin is a knight (holding shield works too) as Furmans paladin is a knight on a horse.  Valpos Paladin could be current Knight holding shield.

Paladins, as for Furman using it, so what?  How many teams use Rams, Saints, Bulldogs etc.  A Paladin is a religious warrior so Valpo could keep the knight.

If the name is definitely going to change then at least we can start a suggestion list for them:

Paladins
Saints
Warriors
