Just saw it posted on Facebook that the Valpo police are looking for Rod who wondered off from his residence and is a victim of Dementia. Very sad.  A great guy who dedicated his professional life to Valpo athletics.  Pray for Rod.

Please tell me that they found him!  He was always so welcoming any time that I needed to ice my shoulder, and seemed to know every athlete's name.

Still missing after 38 hours.  Hundreds are out looking for him.  Very sad.  His daughter posted on Facebook asking locals to check their out-buildings as he may have sought shade.  Sounds like he is, very unfortunately, pretty far gone.

CRUSADERS!!!

Still missing...saw a report that someone matching his description was seen on the north end of town near The Dish this afternoon. Bring Rod Home I believe is the Facebook page that is putting out the most frequent updates.

They have now made a state wide silver alert for Rod.  Prayers for family.  Hard to believe someone could disappear  and still be missing for over 3 days

Wherever Rod Moore Is, I Hope He's Safe

A somewhat long-winded article I came across while searching for information about Rod. While offering up some philosophical thoughts about the pain of living with dementia, it seems ill-timed and overtly cynical. It assumes the worst before we know the outcome. Then again, it's written by a former newspaper journalist whose every opinion seemed fatalistic, so I guess I'm not surprised.

An update, though the lead is a few days old.  It's something however.

Tues, July 7: Rod is still missing.
Today we are concentrating our search efforts on the southeast part of town. Last night we were able to confirm via security footage that Rod did walk behind Paul Sur Buick heading east around 8p on the night he went missing (Tues June 30). We were able to move his LKP (last known position) to Southpoint Circle. Although it's a small lead and we're not sure where he went after that, it still felt like a big win after almost a week of nothing to at least know which way he headed for the first twenty minutes he was gone.
Below is a picture of Rod from security footage so we can confirm he was wearing a darker gray or black polo, khaki shorts, a light colored ball cap, white tennis shoes and white socks.
If you are willing to search today, we have flyers and search routes at the house. Message us for our address. Thank you so much.

Worst possible news.  Rod's body was found this morning in a marsh.  So very sad.  Pray for his family...

Just saw the news as well.  My thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.  Rod was liked by all.

This is devastating news for all in the Valparaiso community. In my four decades associated with VU, I always regarded Rod as among the nicest and kindest individuals I have known. I always enjoyed our conversations, and it was an honor to consider him a friend. I am saddened.

What a shame.

I wonder if, rather than simply being lost afoot for some days, he suffered some catastrophic event during his walk early on.

Posted by Mikah Moore... Rod's son:

This is a post I had hoped and prayed to never have to write. This morning around 11:30am we received confirmation that Rod's body was discovered in a marsh east of Heritage Valley. We don't have many details at this moment, but promised to let everyone know once he was found. Our family covets your prayers as we process this information and deal with next steps.

Above all, even though we feel that all our strength is depleted right now, we are taking comfort knowing that we are being held in our Father's loving arms and that our strength and hope is solely in Him.

Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your love and support. Rod was so loved.

So terrible. Rod was a wonderful person and trainer.
