Title: Alec surgery
Post by: Just Sayin on March 07, 2017, 04:57:16 PM
Did Todd say on the radio Saturday that Alec was going to have surgery? For a stress fracture? This seems unusual.

I'm no doctor, but what about putting some pins in.  He is going to have to play/compete to prepare for NBA draft.

I am surprised that it has come down to surgery but now the doctor will be calling the shots and not the NBA. Enough is known about Alec that somebody will likely still take a shot at him even if he is temporarily damaged goods.

Alec in a wheelchair could probably still have out shot the rest of our team vs UWM.

I bet he's put enough work in on that driveway to give the concrete a stress fracture.

Alec's Mom posted a video of Alec playing on the hotel basketball court at the medical center just hours before his surgery this morning. His shot looked good and he was not wearing a boot or anything on his foot. You have to love his spirit and work ethic! Best luck to Alec for a quick, full recovery to get back on the court!

Pretty cool they found a court. Praying the surgery goes well and he sees a speedy recovery!

Has anyone heard if Alec's surgery was successful?  Did we know where it was performed?

Looks like the timetable for full recovery may be longer than many of us expected, and it could influence Alec's NBA draft situation.  :(

I'm still confused. So this must have been worse then a Stress Fracture if the recovery time is 6-9 months. Serious bummer that he won't get to participate in the Draft Combine (other then Interviews with teams) and also probably won't be participating in the NBA Summer League this season this year.

Dang, that sucks.  Teams are going to be wary to draft him now.  If he was a top 10-15 prospect, he would still be drafted in the first round.  However, when you have a low first rounder/early second rounder with a recent surgery, it is going to make it really difficult.  Teams will be wary about future problems, due to what has happened with recent draft picks, such as Embiid.  Embiid was out with a stress fracture in his back, but teams will still be very cautious in taking Alec before the second round.

Huge disapointment for Alec. A last picked first rounder would make a guaranteed 2.5 mil. Now, maybe not being drafted at all?? HUGE difference. Al the best to him and blessing for a quick recovery to a guy who has earned a spot with the NBA.
