Seriously everyone. Gut check. We are at rock bottom. With our facilities and lack of commitment, who are we getting in our current state to make immediate improvements with instant transfers. This is bad, and I dont have an idea to improve it. Do we fall into despair until a Drew or Alec Peters tries to save us sometime down the line? I hate to be melodramatic, but the last few years have been bad and now we've hit a new rock bottom. I dont see a fix in the short or long term future in the current climate of college basketball. And it didn't have to be this way. We will forever chase the Bryce Drew days.

We're in the MVC, why are we playing a game like this...

At their place...

..and losing by 25 at halftime.

When will this nightmare end. Even the pro-Lottich/its-the-2nd-game-of-the-season crowd can't defend this. Hell, I'll coach this team at my current salary for the rest of the year if thats what it takes.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Valpo vs. Western Michigan

Missed the game. Sounds like play was much improved. While Pomeroy is still adjusting, the Almanac has Western MI as 3rd from the bottom and playing for a spot in the conference tournament. Lamar Norman is a nice piece, but not much after that. Like others, waiting to see about these #s against a better opponent.

Woof.

Valpo can compete in the MVC, it chooses not to. Going to the MVC was not a mistake, but going while running with the same strategy as the HL is the mistake. At least we are still playing in a meaningful conference and as someone has said, we get NCAAT money from it.

I turned it off at halftime I couldnt watch anymore. We had no business being on the court with Toledo last night. How far we have fallen. CBB is all about momentum and...well, we havent had any in years.

But the school is able to sell tickets and concessions for exhibitions. Secret scrimmages are closed.

Wont happen, which is unfortunate.  We're riding out Lottich and by the time we're at the end of the ride, we're not relevant anymore as the predictive measures are indicating.

The team isnt going anywhere, so why not at least play some buy games (and put that money back into the program/upgrade the ARC) and let the players have some of those cool experiences/arenas/atmospheres. Cant wait to see where our OOC SOS will end up.

We're recruiting to a bad coach, in an old outdated gym, and against a s**tty schedule.

Hypothetical: if Butler were to offer a one time buy game at Hinkle, would/should Valpo accept?

Valpo Basketball / Re: New Valpo Team Name Ideas

I still cant wrap my head around this no matter how hard i try. We got rid of the crusader and a good logo to have a) beacons b) a cheesy chess queen acting like a lighthouse and an "alternate logo" of a lantern that has an entire blank side/white splotch on the right side to finally c) introduce our mascots as two cartoon dogs that have a "historical reference" to a beloved dog from the 40s.

I will cringe any time i see these logos or mascots anywhere on televesion, sports highlights, or in the community. I definitely wont be buying any Valpo gear moving forward with any of these logos or designs incorporated.

2021-22 Transfer Portal Stats

1 out of 12 players who transferred this year went up in the portal, the rest transferred lateral or down.

46% of NCAA players who entered the portal this year will not play NCAA basketball in the upcoming 2022-23 season.

https://mobile.twitter.com/TP4PT/status/1554216422515113986

Obviously portaling is a great option for some players,  but with numbers like these, hopefully the numbers will be tampered in the future ?

Is it one and done? Seems like if teams are willing to play it should at least be double elimination.

Not sure if or how involved he was with MBB while there, but Iowa State went from winning 2 games the entire season 2 years ago to winning 2 games in NCAAT this past year. President Padilla has said he's intent on turning athletics around..I like this direction versus some of the other rumored candidates.

Went to new hampshire last summer time. Beautiful state. Wish my basketball (in)abilities took me there for a couple of years.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Lottich's Contract
April 25, 2022, 01:15:49 PM
Last I saw, Lottichs contract was $346k/year.

Some of these transfers are getting paid more in NIL to play for them than we are willing/able to pay our coach.

This is nuts. And our future gets even more dismal when I still look at the status of the ARC.

We all believe in VU and have strong interests in the success of the university. That's why we are here.

At the same time, it's the fewest games (1) we have ever attended and didn't even turn on more games than ever before. And we're not the only ones. Something has to change.

Failure. We had some nice pieces. No excuse why our record is as bad as what it is.

Nevermind they have Lickliter who at 66 would still run circles around Matt. Always surprised he hasn't gotten them better results but that man can coach.
