Toooo early to post for Game 1, Naaaahhhh. I can't remember a year where we had an exhibition this early in October. The guys were playing fast and loose on offense over the summer so it'll be interesting to see if Matt has taken the reigns or if they continue to be free and put quick shots on O.

I'm looking forward to seeing Conner TenHove play. That is all.

Think we can convince the managers to get us a video feed again  ;).    I guess they still can only do one broadcast at a time in the production room?

I'm thinking there might be a copyright issue with the NCAA. But being an exhibition maybe not. Regular season game I'm sure it's a problem. If there is no issue, I would say this is great opportunity for the in house TV Studio to get real live experience. They broadcasted the Pop Corn parade on Facebook so they seem to have the ability to stream an HD feed. Again I don't know if the NCAA would allow, but it seems it would be a win-win for the out of area fans and the communication department.

As long as the camera follows the players with the ball I'm all in for that.

If Ethan gets his feed with Periscope going You'll be able to see some of the game. Looks like the best bet so far to see some action. Be warned it will probably be from a camera phone. But at least it's something.

Opps, looking at it again he may only be doing a pre-game video.

Definitely none of stagnant offense just passing back and forth around the perimeter . Lot of slashing and passing

Love to here post game thoughts.  Sounds like Donovan is a stud  with freshman jitters. Emil showing some promise?  Great defense all around? Impressions of Siggie?

Decent game. Excellent free throw shooting. Freshmen looked good at times with definite potential with obviously first home game jitters. Last 10 minutes of the second half played with none of the starters in. McMillan sat out probably due to suspension but wondering where was Krikke. Not on bench and was looking forward to see him play. Robinson. Morgan, Freeman, Sackey, Gordon play really tough defense. We look undermanned under the basket though. 3 point shooting so-so. Fazekas looked good.
Again overall played with a lot of intensity and willingness to share with the ball.

crusader05

Krikke is in Canada for his grandfathers funeral.

I'd second everything RS said. Definitely felt a higher level of energy and focus. Javon looks excellent and Fazekas shot looks great. Sackey looks like he bulked up a bit as well. Some great passes, not as many dumb fouls but definitely think our younger guys will struggle a bit with aggressiveness and/or control.  Clay has the athleticism and length so I expect him to improve over the year as he has a great base to work from.

It was fun to see an up-tempo offense.  Nick looked impressive.  Emil looks like a freshman big man project -- his feet are quicker that some of our recent big men, but catching the ball was a challenge for him.  Eron played heavy; he didn't show the speed that was apparent from much of the rest of the team.  Cedarville took advantage of Sackey's size by posting up on him (they did the same with Siggy), so that will have to be addressed defensively. Siggy was not shy about putting the ball up from 3.  I hope that his shot will drop more frequently. It seems that we will have the bench to allow for intense defense, but I'd want Javon on the court as much as possible.

Pretty solid effort considering two of our regular rotation guys were not available.  I don't think we will miss those who preferred to play elsewhere.

Liked the tempo, liked seeing big guys rebound. Sackey switching into post players is going to work about as well as the scoreboard was.

Appreciated the in game experience efforts, it was preseason for everybody.

Some quick observations:

I like the tempo, though hard to tell for sure against a D-II team if this would work as well in the MVC.
If they both stay healthy, Freeman-Liberty and Fazekas could challenge for first-team all conference this year.
I like Siggy's offensive ability as a shooter, but Valpo will need to work to prevent the lack of height in its two point guards becoming a detriment on defense.
The shooting from the foul line was terrific. I'd like to think this is a positive sign for the future, especially since free throws could be the difference in some conference games.
I'm hoping Robinson can be an overall contributor the way Lavender was last year.
Couldn't get a good feel for the inside game and rebounding. I'll be curious to see the team perform with McMillan and Krikke in the lineup.
Valpo grad Conner TenHove scored 19 points against us. I wonder why he is at a D-II program and whether Valpo seriously considered him.
Unfortunately, attendance was down 20% (2098-1637) from last year's opening home exhibition against Concordia Chicago. I hope this does not continue a trend.

I understand that Gordon was just getting over some hamstring issues that plagued him recently. That may be the reason that he looked "heavy."
