Great news!  Have you found a way to watch any of the games?  Provided it isn't on a 3am, I'd love to watch Rowdy play!

Don't know if it's been posted or not, but you can view box scores of all the World University games through the USA site at http://www.usabasketball.com/mens/worlduniversity/

Australia and New Zealand lost their games today.  The good news is that both our guys led their teams in scoring.  Ryan had 19 pts in 26 min. and Richie 20 pts in 37 min.

New Zealand's out of the running for the championship.

Probably Canada will beat Hong Kong, to make Canada the second place team in Australia's group.  If Canada should manage to lose, Australia would be in a three-way tie for second.  But would probably lose to Turkey on tie-breakers.

Australia and New Zealand get to keep playing, but in the consolation brackets.  (Probably two different consolation brackets.)

The US, undefeated, opens the playoffs against Lithuania on Saturday.

After pool play, Broekoff is leading Australia in scoring and is third in rebounding.  Edwards leads New Zealand in scoring and is second in rebounding.  As with scores, stats for all teams can be accessed through the USA basketball site, clicking on stats:

Australia and New Zealand lost today, but Ryan and Richie continue to perform well individually with 14 and 21 points, respectively.

In their final game, New Zealand beat Hong Kong 92-61 and Edwards scored 24 points. I'm hoping he can bring some of that productive scoring to the Horizon League.

I note that Ryan did not start in Australia's game against Israel.  Perhaps Koala can let us know if this was a coach's decision or if Ryan is ill or injured.  It appears in the box scores as if he's been playing well.

Also noted that McCallum hasn't played many minutes in the USA's "close" games.  Again, no interpretation, just an observation.

I haven't been able to talk with Ryan for the last few days but when I last did he was telling me that he was carrying an arm injury.   Not sure how bad it is as was hoping to speak with him yesterday but didn't.   On a happy note it is his 21st birthday so Happy Birthday Rowdy  :)

Hopefully he's OK.

And, congratulations on reaching legal drinking age in the US!  No more artificial divide between time in Oz and at school.  (Well, I have no idea what team rules might be.)  I'll drink one, responsibly, tonight in Ryan's honor ;)
