Since many on the board have had the privilege to know Prof. Schwehn the past three decades as a teacher, as the Director of Christ College, as the University Provost the last five years, and as an avid fan of Valpo sports, I thought I'd pass along the information now publicly released that he will be retiring as Provost at the end of this academic year.

Mark plans to return to teaching in Christ College after spending a year away on sabbatical. I believe he has done a great job. Finding an excellent person to fill the position of Provost will be crucial for the planned continuing growth of the university.

Mark has been a critical part of the University since he was a student. I think he is 67.  He was a good tie to the Missouri Synod as well.  I believe his father is/was a pastor.  I'm glad he wants to continue to teach, he has a brilliant mind.

Having dated one of his daughters, I can say he's quite a fine guy.
