RHP Colin Fields looks to be having a good freshman season so far.

We are terrible. Now 8-25 and losing to SIUE, 8-1 in the third.

So I listened to the third and here is what our pitcher and team did:

Walk
Hit batter
Walk
Walk
Hit batter
Wild pitch
fielding error
Wild pitch
fly out
double
flyout
strike out

6 runs on one hit.  Nice.  ???

Yeah, a lot of close losses.  Our hitters have been terrible, which doesn't help the pitchers in being able to take more chances with the strike zone.

Great conference for baseball, with 3 teams making the tournament.  They are 4-2 at this point, with Illinois State already clinching a spot in the regional championship series (2-0), Dallas Baptist is 1-1, and Indiana State is 1-1.

Dallas Baptist eliminates Florida, and Indiana State eliminates Ohio State, with both advancing to their regional championship series.  That means that all 3 MVC teams made their regional championship.  Very impressive.

TX, now if we could get Valpo into this equation that would be where we need to be

It wasn't all that long ago (2013) that we beat Florida in the Regional at Indiana. But that was with a different coach.

We will be just fine with Schmack, as he was one of the main recruiters during Woodson's time.  We are in a much better baseball conference, going from around #26 or #27 in RPI to top 6.  It will take an adjustment of talent, and I am confident that he will do so.

Even though we had a rough year in the MVC, I look for us to be much more competitive next year!

On the alumni front, we've had 3 alums make it to AAA in the last year!  Drew Hasler and Karch Kowalczyk got a few innings at AAA last season, and Scott Kapers started this season at AAA.  I assume that my Rangers have some catching injuries for Scott to already be in AAA, unless he impressed that much with his defense, that they don't care that he can't hit!  Karch was released due to an uncharacteristically poor season in AA, and is now in the Independent leagues with the St. Paul Saints.  Drew Hasler appears to be injured, and starting in A+ again.

This probably should be in a new thread but I'm too lazy.  We are getting a real stud coming in next year and surprisingly enough, has the same last name as our coach!
