Two new commits

Jackson Dorr Punter Valor Christian Colorado
Gaillin Mitchell Edge Elder - Ohio

Lost commit:

Kanen Rossi sunset Oregon- has confirmed he will be taking preferred walk on to Oregon Ducks

valpofb16

Appears in a Robinson tweet that Niesner the punter will be back for a 5th season, one less hole to fill

valpofb16

#16 Noah Carlton FR place kicker has entered transfer portal , 0 GP last fall

valpofb16

#22 DJ Hutcherson appears to be grad transferring, started a handful of games at the LB/DB hybrid position. Was a key factor in defense

valpotx

Good for him.  He did his time here, and is taking one last shot at a higher level.  Can't fault anyone in making that decision.

Have spoke with PFL Offensive Player of the Year Robert Washington, as of this second he will be coming back and not exploring transfer portal.

Massive win for program

I don't fault him either way he decides.  Being the PoY would have definitely drawn eyes from higher level programs.  How high and how much PT?  Hard to say.

I didn't realize Lopez was still around.

Season Results: CBI/CIT: 2008, 2011, 2014  NIT: 2003,2012, 2016(Championship Game) 2017   NCAA: 1962,1966,1967,1969,1973,1996,1997,1998 (Sweet Sixteen),1999, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2013 and 2015

valpofb16

Everything points to Reese being back, he's a 2018 grad and a JR so unless he graduated in 3 we can count on him

Lopez was removed from roster and missed season to injury, has happened few times over years, not often though

Seems like DT and DB our biggest question marks for next year

valpofb16

Somewhat if it stands as is today we return 11 starters on offense and 8 on defense

Gedrys started due to Satoski injury, Evan started the first 3 or so games. Orlandini and Him should start with Kessen/Miller receiving another year in weight room.

Henry Hebda is a three year starter at corner. That hurts but we still have Horton, Turner, Carrillo, Earles there which all played roles this year

David Hebda was really injured from game 3-4 on. Sciarroni took over for him and played well then got hurt. Chillin came in then had a rough game against Morehead and a great game against San Diego.

So one can argue we are returning 21/22 starters with our newest starter being an all PFL performer (Turner)

Schedule dropped and man is it brutal

Game 1: @Indiana Wesleyan : lost to NAIA natty contenders Marian and St. Francis by 1 touchdown

Game 2: @ North Dakota State - just got upset in FCS playoffs

Game 3: Dartmouth- 9-1 last season played

Game 4: @ Drake - would be tough to go back to back there

Game 5: Marist - should be a win, hasn't been a win besides 2017

Game 6: @ Saint Thomas - D3 national contender moved up

Game 7: Dayton at home- sure they will be motivated for Fox

Game 8: @ San Diego have we won here?

Game 9: Presbyterian - wild card/ how many scholarship kids will still be on roster?

Game 10: @ Butler if this is a week 4 game great! Week 10 after this schedule I don't know

Game 11: Morehead State traditionally a loss but a close one

valpofb16

#39 RSSO Drew Engle has entered the transfer portal was buried behind Washington, Lane, Robinson, Allison, Haugh on depth chart

talksalot

wow... a 9-game Pre-Season schedule... we ought to be warmed up by then.

If the program is truly improving, the program needs to withstand the tougher schedule.

Saw on Twitter we have a new coach in charge of Special Teams Quality Control named Ben Rohaly.

This may have been what you meant but I think that should read Special Teams/Quality Control. The QC guy is usually the film breakdown guy. I would doubt they'd have one coach specifically to break down film for special teams. Also, why would a program the size of Valpo's have 2 ST coaches which makes me wonder if something's going on with Jon Robinson.

valpofb16

Austin Blizzard has decommitted , makes sense with brother Tyler leaving program.

In terms of coach Rohaly, hard to believe he is one of paid coaches. May just be opportunity for him to get exposure

Update transfer list

#26 Robinson- 2nd string RB
# 17 Larose - Grad WR
#22 Hutcherson - Grad DB
#16 Carlton - Reserve K
#39 Engle - Reserve RB

valpotx

Those all make sense.  The grad transfers moving on to their next education stop, and the other 3 are backups to pretty solid starters.

Late but DT coach Jackson Smith has moved on to Averett University as DL/ST Coordinator
