Vermont up 13 over top-seeded Stony Brook in America East title game with 13 to go - that would be big for us, as we're about 40 spots above Stony Brook in RPI. Also want upsets in MEAC/SWAC title games today.

The NCAA will look at tournament history, otherwise we wouldn't have had two years of 16 seeds, like I posted above.

I also feel that our NCAA bid could still be a 16 seed because of our previous tournament history. The committee does take that into consideration.

Let's put money where the mouth is. I'll vote for the biggest monetary contributor to VU athletics. Who is it? Posting. What a joke,in fact it's sad,or is it sader?
Not much of this, if any, made sense.

Kinda looks like we'll see either Milwaukee or Butler on Saturday night. Playing either again is scary
Remember, the bracket is reseeded after the second round, so we'll play the lowest remaining seed. Cheer for some upsets!

Much Much better.Obviously you were there so you would know better then I, but what was bad last year? Just the amount of games? It looks like it went Milwaukee, Home, GB, Home, Home, Home...that was all in a short time frame. Do you think last years schedule at the end will take a tougher toll on the guys then this years, Home, LA, Home?

I'd be happy with that result! I'm interested to see if GB's young guards can keep playing as well as they have been or if they will hit a wall in the second half of the season.
arcenaux (sp?) really lit us up. all i can say is i hope that doesn't happen again!
If you guys want to have an "experts only" chat on the game, feel free to pm me at any time. We can always Skype, aol instant message, yahoo message, FB chat, MSN message, or even just hotmail our thoughts back and forth. Just don't want to bore the board with stuff that is over their heads. This game just took on some major importance in the conference race for Valpo! WE ARE TIED FOR FIRST in the conference now. UW-Milwaukee just lost to Youngstown St. 68-66 at the Beeghley Center. At one point, YSU had a 10-point lead at 54-44, but then they let a couple of mistakes get UWM back in the game. The free throw line and patience on offense and defense helped YSU win this game.
I was just looking at the UIC website about this game. I found out that our game with UIC will be on Comcast Sportsnet Chicago tomorrow, so if you live in the Chicago area, or in a range of Comcast Chicago, you can watch this game on your favorite tv screen without the crazy HDMI cords from your computer/laptop. I don't think it will be in HD, but at least you can watch the game on a better screen, and it won't be as grainy. Also, the announcers for this game with be Dave Wills and David Kaplan. For those who watched the Green Bay-Cleveland St. game, Kaplan was the color commentator for that game. He's worked many a Valpo game in the past. Dave Wills does radio for the Tampa Bay Rays during baseball season, and he's usually pretty decent. Just making you aware of who is calling the game, should any of us have issues with getting the WAKE radio stream to work properly. Let's Go Valpo!! We can overtake sole possession of 1st Place in the HL for a night at least with this win.

in 2 Pt FG% after Michigan and St. Mary's shot somewhat low 2 Pt FG% last night.
While this is a somewhat strange statistic, I do believe it is indicative of good team play on offense and generally good shot selection.
Definitely a good sign...means we're getting good looks and making the most of our opportunities. Last year, I felt like we struggled to finish around the rim...much improved this season.

I just focused on the athletic website to notice that, for the first time, the football game will be on the net video wise. Apparently they can't move the equipment back into the ARC fast enough because for the first time in my recollection the basketball game won't be televised. In fact it appears it won't even be on the radio!
What the heck is up with that??

That didn't quite click for me. Playoff game... Tuesday at... 1:00 PM? I hope they get some fans out! Awkward time.
Well, the league says they have to play Tuesday, Eastgate's lack of lights says they have to play in the afternoon... not a lot of options unfortunately. Doubt many students will come, maybe a hand-full at best.
I wondered if there was an honest reason why the game couldn't be played at Brown Field at 7PM, unless there was a conflict of some sort with the football practice schedule?

so Butler's kid didn't make the team??

He's used two years and played two. Sitting out next year as a transfer, he's used three years and played two. Would have two more years left.Quote from: agibson on May 11, 2011, 09:21:08 AM
Why just one year? He's just finished his sophomore season. Did he already redshirt? Otherwise, he sits next season, and then would have two seasons of eligibility remaining, right?
If he transfers, he loses a year of eligibility, and like you said, he just finished his sophomore season, so he would be a junior in the fall, then we would have him on the court for his senior season, meaning we would only have him for games for one year.
The transfer rule from D-1 to D-1 cuts out a year, because of the NCAA feel that a player is transferring for basketball/athletic reasons instead of academic reasons.
