Chicago State 75
Northwestern 73 final score

Cardet had 30 points for CSU.
#52
Chicago State has taken the lead on northwestern with about 5 minutes to go in the game they lead by 2. should be an exciting finish.

EDT: It's a real battle of cats as the northwestern wildcats take a two-point lead on the Cougars with 2:20 left in the game.

EDIT: CHICAGO STATE HAS A FIVE-POINT LEAD WITH LESS THAN 10 SECONDS TO GO IN THE GAME. LOOKS LIKE A BIG UPSET!!

Tough to win anywhere when you shoot 3-20 from 3 pt land and get out rebounded by 11

Maybe against Trinity Christian but NOT St Mary-of-the-Amazon.

QuoteWould love to go 3-2 in these games. Massey has us favored against CMU and Chicago St, and 49% against both Samford and Elon

Well, there's still a chance against Chicago State (3-8). Unless that win by the Cougars over Stetson (77-54) was the turning of a corner.

There has been some lackadaisical play on Valpo's part on rebounding and passes. You can't have that at all against a Big 6, 5 4 opponent.
#57
It's on WGN channel 9 in Chicago area. I assume the local CW stations have a choice of programs and it depends on what they chose.

Channel 18 CW in Milwaukee has it also

Milwaukee Schedule | News, Weather, Sports, Breaking News | WVTV (cw18milwaukee.com)

Not on CW in Detroit.

Palm's first defensive play does bode well for his staying in the game.

Looking at those Hokies big men play I'm not so sure Valpo will be close.  Hope Valpo can dominate guard play with VA Tech's best guard out.

Quote from: vu84v2 on December 08, 2023, 11:03:01 PMAnd the medium and smaller sized schools will be very motivated to seek legal recourse, since most have spent large sums to build new facilities, etc.

The greatest push in the direction of the medium & smaller sized schools seeking legal recourse is the financial strain that the pandemic blind sided these schools with in 2020. Without that financial situation I don't think you would see those schools go to a legal recourse. Reminder, they are basically suing themselves as they are member schools of the NCAA.

Unless Jerome Palm gives Valpo something that the Hokies (did you know the spellchek changes Hokies to Homies?) aren't expecting it won't be close. But I do feel that Palm wakes up a bit in the first half and we will get some late great shooting from the somewhat bright Beacons to come back a bit at the end. Just not enough.

I think VA Tech will find a way to shutdown the Beacons at the start of the 2nd half & reverse a 1st half deficit before Valpo gets hot shooting near the end of the game to pull much closer than expected.

VA Tech did beat Iowa State who beat Iowa and Valpo's former player, Ben Krikke. Iowa State 90, Iowa 65. VA Tech 71, Iowa State 62 at Highland Park Fieldhouse in suburban Chicago off Skokie Valley Rd between Park Ave & Half Day Rd.

There has never been this high profile player available mid season..
If I were Tomlin, ready to graduate in a week or so, projected NBA Draft pick, and had come to the conclusion that I had erred enough to warrant my dismissal, I would take the spring semester getting ready for the draft.  Getting my head and body together, working with sports trainers and sports psychologists to better my draft value.  Use that NIL $$

That would be the sensible thing to do and probably won't happen.

Quote from: valpo64 on December 08, 2023, 08:11:23 AMJust check out what Butler charges for their men's basketball tickets to see how prices are getting way out of hand.

Third in the Big East and recently knocked off Penn State. Valpo is at $20 some per ticket what should Butler be at? I really can't believe I'm defending the Butler Athletic Dept but they are steps ahead of Valpo at this time. They are playing Cal Saturday noon (9:00 a.m. Pacific time, 11 a.m. Central) I bet some of you will tune into the game.

EDIT: $75 per seat for Saturday against Cal in the 300 level, top section. $50 for some corner 200 level seats. They have truly staggered the pricing much more than they used to.

Projected 30th pick in NBA draft.

As long as the Rev doesn't let him come in and say "I will dominate the Missouri Valley" shades of Mo Kone. Nobody accomplishes anything in MBB without help from their teammates. It's one thing to be recruited and believe you belong in a higher conference (possibly one of the soon to be $30,000 minimum conferences) and playing as a cog in a wheel of a team rebuilding. Those lessons are usually learned over 1 to 2 years and very difficult to learn in the era of multiple transfer possibilities.

You ever recruited for a park league softball team?

There must be someone within the VU athletic dept, doing a great job, getting the team details (bowling equipment moved, motel details smoothed out, etc) done.

As they say, it's not who starts, it who finishes. But...

He will not give up on Jerome, nor will I.

I feel like Jerome Palm is starting from scratch with a new coaching staff. If he makes a better impact in Central Michigan game the light is brighter and the Beacons win. It would have really helped if it didn't take till 4:35 left in the 1st half before the refs called a foul against the Ojibwa/Chippewas. Those refs didn't like to call many fouls at all and didn't call one against Valpo until 9:00 minutes left in the 1st half. Amazing 11 minutes of no fouls NCAA Div 1 men's basketball. Really?

Men's Basketball Surges to 71-67 Win Over Valparaiso - Central Michigan University Athletics (cmuchippewas.com)
Central Michigan outrebounded Valparaiso 44-36
and grabbed a season-best 18 offensive rebounds. The Chippewas also outscored Valpo 34-22 in the paint and converted nine 3-pointers

We have got to make up this rebounding difference!!!!!

Hopefully Darius is okay. Randomly noticed it looked like his last name was missing a letter on the back of his jersey "DeVEIRO". Unless I'm seeing things

Good eye, you were correct. Hopefully it gets corrected. Or did it happen when Harding plastered Darius to the floor?

Predicted 5 point loss, was 4 point loss. Still have much work but I do think we'll get there. At one point Coach Powell challenged the end of his bench to pick up the team on the floor which was starting a comeback. I was a little surprised he spent a whole time out individually challenging each man on the end of the bench.

Excellent comeback. Turned a potential blowout loss into a positive learning experience. Nice to see Roger shakeup the lineup and the new guys deliver.

W. Michigan looked gassed down the stretch.

Considering the Broncos lost to Notre Dame last night in South Bend 86-65 it's no wonder they looked gassed down the stretch.
