Title: Breaking! Valpo football last decade
Post by: usc4valpo on January 13, 2020, 08:30:35 PM
Valpo was a dismal 20-91 from 2010-2019. This futility cannot continue this decade. enough of this.

Can you change the title and precede the subject line you used with "BREAKING!".

Not sure that anyone would be privy to this info.

Actually in terms of preseason expectations. I think USC had a worse decade than Valpo...

It gets worse... Since finishing 8-4 way back in 2003 we are (if my math is correct) 42-136. With one winning season (the year before last 6-5.) It wasn't just this decade it was most of last decade too.

Not accepted but if you throw out Carlson's 3-40 it's 17-51

Almost double win % still not acceptable but Dales getting 4 years set program back about 10

I would say the university is accepting this overall. Administration is apathetic, students don't attend, alums don't care - we care though and hopefully none of us think this is acceptable.

I would say attendance was at a high for the decade the Davidson game of 2018. Was there, standing room only. What happened is Valpo got it handed to them in a high scoring affair. When weather gets bad students just don't go.

I do believe the football team is simply not accepted by many as opposed to your conceived acceptance. I rarely saw faculty members at Valpo football games. Students would go (primarily athletes) but rarely would you have a full student body. No tailgating had been allowed (might have changed there was tailgating at the Davidson game). I believe it is a product issue, don't get me wrong.

But the bottom line:

The University is a liberal arts University (think of type of student this attracts), with a dwindling enrollment, for a non scholarship football team, that is historically bad, with faculty that could care less,  where weather gets near freezing late September, no drinking allowed in the games, no tailgating allowed.

That my friend is a hard product to sell.

Areas of Easy Improvement
-Free tickets for faculty and family
-Student Section
-Tailgating sections for parents/students/fraternities/sororities
-Better giveaways toward end of the season

It is liberal arts, but it needs more STEM to survive
