Agreed on the athleticism.  Though he wasn't show cased last year.

We had more proven weapons, so his aggression could've been seen (last year) as a detriment to the team.

We are going to be hard pressed to see that sort of quality depth at VU again in the near term.

The HL is not going to get an at large bid any time soon.  But interesting nonetheless.

Anyone else unable to find the game on the WatchESPN app?

Have any of us seen Sasha in action outside of highlight reels?  How is his athleticism?  Does he have Power 5 potential?  We know it's a mental war these young kids fight between the prestige of B1G vs Valpo, but wasn't Alec similar to a Sasha or Parker Hazen?  Gifted, but athletically not born with raw athleticism....rather, through work ethic and practice they reach their highest potential.  With players like this, do the Purdues of college ball give them a chance to excel?

Alright Adekoya is probably equally as tall as Coach Gore.

And if you look at the ears of Smits vs Jaume there could be a 3" height difference.  Kind of silly how closely we look though!  Because arm length (reach) is the real upside.  Just look at NBA Vashil the destroyer!!  6-10" with other worldly reach.

Thought Coach Gore was 6'8" right?  He hadn't any reason to embellish for roster reasons.  If so, his head is level with the bottom of the bleacher behind him.  Maybe use that as a control and compare from there?

I know the angle is misleading but that shows Adekoya is shorter than Gore.  Shows Peters is taller than Adekoya noticeably.  And in turn, demonstrates Peters is a good deal shorter than Jaume.  I think it appears Smits is not 3" taller than Jaume.

The ppl of NWI may be far too distracted with technology and unlimited entertainment options to turn out in those numbers again...

Wasn't long ago that a college sporting event was a top entertainment draw.  Sadly those days seem to be dwindling with sensory overload of today.

It's also about match ups.  Our weaknesses, their weaknesses.  I don't think that can be understated.  Seeds certainly play a part, but it's safe to say mean nothing by themselves.

4 years of Parker Hazen?

OR

2 years of Joe Burton?

I'd take 4 years with Parker Hazen.  It takes time to develop in a program.  Is 2 years enough to prosper in a new program?

Here's to hoping Hazen doesn't have 2nd thoughts on his commitment because it would seem he chose VU to be the next Alec Peters...is Burton a deterrent (takes solid minutes)?  Can we play them together with significant minutes?

The tape tells me Burton can stretch to the 3-point line but in college he's been playing more inside due to his physical strength.

Parker plays more with his back to the basket.  Admittedly because in high school not many teams have size enough to let a guy like Parker play more outside?  Thoughts?

Transfers are game changers for mid majors (both to and away from programs).  Before I pose this question, let me say I'm excited about our transfers....greatly.

Do we take 3* freshmen over 3 or 4* transfers with 2 years left?

Can it be argued that continuity is most important with players that have 3 to 4 years to develop together?  Or do we take ALL the talent we can get as Coach Lottich has implied?  Despite only having them for 2 years for instance?

I believe that was a retweet from Burton.  That's not him from what pictures I've seen.  Also, Burton is right handed.

What position does he play at VU? Does this sour Hazen?  Can we move him to SG with his 3-Pt prowess and athleticism?

Pretty well answers our questions about how NBA scouts do their scouting.  Gone are the days when dominate small school players are over looked due to lack of exposure.  Technology being the great equalizer....

There are always going to be questions on level of competition they suit up against, but refreshing they steered him in the right direction.  I too was worried about their recommendations being self serving VS seeing him develop which is the real goal.  His testing of the NBA waters was just that.

His dominance was on display when the pressure was off (NIT), having missed the NCAAs.  Love to see what Alec can do with his newly minted aggression.

Any chance Nebraska transfer Bakari Evelyn scores huge points by netting us his former teammate and NE grad transfer Andrew White!?!?

6'6" Guard whose name was in the draft, but pulled out.

Agreed.  Our offense could afford to be suspect with Carters on ball D combined with the best rim protector in the country.  We witnessed one of our best teams last year.  Though with a more aggressive offense and decent D we could put together a good season.

With Keith losing his appeal I believe we only have 1 scholarship available for 2016/17.  With (2) transfers taking scholarships but unable to participate this year.  So we are really down to 10 scholarship participants yet we are using 12/13 slots.

I like it, we are back to MINUTES for this years team.  The way I see it our positions and available bodies are as follows (not pertaining to starting 5).  How do we fill the minutes for SG, SF and PF?

PG:  Lexus, Micah, Joseph
Min:  Lexus (20 min), Micah (15 min), Joseph (5 min)

SG:  Tevonn, Hammink, Davidson, Joseph
Min:  Tevonn (25 min), Hammink (10 min), Joseph (5 min)

SF:  Peters, Hammink, Davidson
Min:  Peters (20 min), Hammink 15 min), Davidson (5 min?)
**Pretty shallow depth here?**

PF:  Peters, Adekoya, Jaume, Smits
Min:  Peters (10 min), Adekoya (20), Jaume (5), Smits (5)

C:  Smits, Adekoya, Jaume
Min:  Smits (20), Adekoya (5), Jaume (15)

It's difficult to imagine more than Alec being able to log 30 mpg+.  He is among our best at staying out of foul trouble, whereas Adekoya uses ALL his allowable fouls and quickly.  Is it unusual to see teams with (2) players logging 30 mpg?  Or even 28 mpg for (2) players?  Who else can we expect to see in the 28-30 mpg range on this years team?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Look forward to your thoughts.

I'm most tepid on Max in his limited roll, but do Lexus or Micah step in to steal starting minutes? July 09th seems like forever to know on KC...
