Some can recruit and some have a problem meeting the needs for a team competing in the MVC.  Perhaps Evans is over her head  coaching at this level.

11-22 from the free throw line in a game lost by 1 at UIC. Big opportunity missed to snap the losing streak

valpotx

Too bad, losing by 1 on a 3 pointer with 1.9 seconds left.  Agreed that FTs killed it.

Some people get lucky once-in-awhile, including coaches.  Remember when the men's team got to the Championship Tourney game a few years back?  I believe that was the first time any team playing on Thursday ever got to the Championship game.  You reap what you sow(recruits, including transfers/portal players).

At least our combined basketball loss standing stays intact!  Now 0-12 in conference.  :(

The women last won a game on November 12. Looking at the schedule ahead, unless they pull a big upset, the next realistic chance at a victory would be against Bradley on January 29. If they win that game, it would be a gap of 78 days, more than 11 weeks without a W.

The Women get off the schneid by finishing a major upset at home against what was a 9-5 (4-1) Missouri State team, winning by 9.  We can actually win in Basketball!

just heard the victory bell ring. I wasn't sure what it was at first.

Yes!! And we didn't win because we shot lights out from 3 - 34 points in the paint and FT% much better than the other day. Also we won the rebounding battle by 5?! Against a team that came in this season on average +12 on their opponents?!?!?!!

valpotx

Credit to Pitts on her game.  Both she and Interrante are to be commended for sticking with Valpo, when they really weren't allowed to shoot in prior seasons.

Our first win ever over MSU.

I'm still remembering the Dunson 3 point foul that may have cost us the MSU game 2 years ago. Ouch! That still hurts because they were a ranked team then I believe.

30 pt blowout today-perhaps start transitioning basketball programs with them
At least our mens team is competitive

But the MBB team still has not beaten a team in the top 8 of the conference standings at this point. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! CLOSE DOESN'T COUNT IN BASKETBALL. HOLDING A COACH TO HIGH STANDARDS IS THE SAME THING VU DOES WITH IT'S STUDENTS IN THEIR ACADEMIC FIELD. WHY DOES THE UNIVERSITY LOWER THE STANDARDS FOR ATHLETICS?

Unfortunately this team might be headed to the worst record in history(since they started playing similar number of games to the men's). Evans has had 1 winning season which to be fair is the only one in 14 years. That team was made up of mostly Dorow recruits. As they have left, so have the wins. I stopped after the top 6 teams in the conference but they all have 2-4 players 6-2 to 6-5, most play 2-3 regularly. We have none and have never recruited one with this staff. Could our system work? Maybe but we haven't shown that as very possible. Time for a change.

Must give kudos with 2 wins this weekend. ISU and UE aren't great but when you only have 4 wins you take any you can get. Interestingly the lineup was changed and our top 2 players are now coming off the bench.

valpotx

I noticed the same thing in the lineup switch, and was curious what that was tied.  Brown and Earnest are our two most consistent.

And boom goes the dynamite on Valpo basketball (both programs)

I watched the game. Ugh! Interestingly enough, both our men's and women's teams lost two extremely close regular season games to a team that blew them out in the first round of tournament play.  Why? Because their coaches coach, made adjustments learned and their team actually implemented those changes to exploit our obvious weaknesses. Out rebounded by 15, limited our three point opportunities etc. etc.

Evans at least can point to a very young team with some talent and a little size arriving from recruits.  I think one more year for her unless she had a five year deal that just ended.  Then a serious discussion needs to be had.

At least two games this year with 0 offensive rebounds which is unheard of. We really aren't young as we played 3 seniors and 4 junior's significant minutes.  Brown didn't go thru senior night indicating she could be back. Sadly adding wings that are 5-11 and 6-0 is our definition of adding size.
The last 3 seasons are at Dorow level and that is scary.

PO mentioned that Ali Saunders might/was transferring. Is this true. If so that is a major loss

Ali was arguably our best player as a freshman. She led all freshman in the MVC in scoring and assists. This is a blow.

The question is why?  She transfers down in conference where she was on the all freshman team.  A boy friend maybe?  Just doesn't make sense.

Maybe because of our program/coaching??
