Valpo's endowment grew to $202 million, up from $177 million last year.

That gain, 13.9 percent, is better than last year's gain of 8.8 percent, but it still falls below the 2014 national average of 15 percent.

Valpo's ranking among the 851 institutions polled remains unchanged from a year ago, at 301.

The 2014 Nacubo endowment study is out. VU remains at #301 out of 851 participating colleges and universities, with an endowment of $202 million.  Other schools' endowments in millions of dollars:

Oakland 73
Wagner 82
Taylor 86
Evansville 90
Wittenberg 98
Belmont 99
Calvin 123
Augustana 144
Luther 147
Gonzaga 164
Drake 186
Butler 190

On the other hand, 172 of the schools have endowments exceeding $500 million, and 92 over a billion.  And there are a number of other schools, comparable in many ways to VU, that have us beat by a wide margin:

Wabash 371
Wheaton 405
Creighton 439
Dayton 510
DePauw 627
Denison 771

Here is the link. I hope it will open up -- I have a terrible history of posting links that don't open.

I have heard that Wheaton has done a tremendous job of building their endowment through an ongoing "leave a legacy" campaign.  They tell potential donors that when they remember Wheaton in their wills they are giving in perpetuity to not only support the college, but to further the cause of Jesus Christ across the nation and the world.  That's a powerful appeal to Evangelical Christians that strongly believe in The Great Commission.

We've been told that the next major fund drive will have much to do with endowment. That will certainly raise our ranking which certainly is higher from an academic standpoint.

Are we sure all of these universities actually exist?

I know it is not in the midwest, but would like VU to strive for comparability with #82 Wake Forest University 1,148

Gotta have goals, even lofty ones at that!

Let's hope that Valparaiso never implements a program (endowment or otherwise) to spread a specfic view of religion "across the nation and around the world".

St. Olaf reports that its endowment stands at $435.9 milliion; up from $185.5 million ten years ago.
