So it seems that a couple of former women's soccer players have some grievances with an "unnamed" coach on the team.

I never want to speculate, but there is only 1 coach that was on staff for all 3 of her years...
I hope this is dealt with promptly and properly. I hope that "coach" is fired. This is not in keeping with the values of the University and this "coach" should be ashamed of himself for being a blight on his profession.
Congrats to Coach Marovich! One of our more stable/better programs historically, outside of last season.

Good start to MVC play for the Brown and Gold...team is in the top half of the standings with a few matches in hand...looking like a 1st round home game at Brown Field during MVC tourney.
Overall, each of our teams seems to be stepping up to MVC competition levels. This is even the case in a traditionally weak overall T&F and CC programs. We've always had some individual standouts in those sports, but seem to be getting better overall athletes moving forward.
How hard is it for a Valpo coach to give a few minutes of playing time to members of their program? These girls dedicate their collegiate lives to practices and traveling to away matches, yet do not get NCAA credit for being part of the program without any minutes on the field during the season. There are a number of women in the Valpo program that have not earned a single minute during this season. Why cannot the head coach of Valpo that recognize his players daily contributions to the program are valuable? We are not talking about offering minutes to a D1 Top 20 program. Why are so may college soccer coaches out of touch with reality?

College athletics are not a handout, as it can seem in High School. Just because you are on the team and work your a$$ off in practices, doesn't mean that you deserve game action. This is coming from someone who worked his a$$ off and primarily played JV Baseball at Valpo, with intermittent Varsity action. Granted, I was a key/core JV player for my 4 years, and saw a lot of action in those games against JuCo, Community College, NAIA, and NCAA D-2/D-3 programs.
Congrats to the ladies for their highest MVC finish to date, with a tie for third, and earning the third seed via tie-breaker rules! We get to host a first round game against #6 Evansville, and were in every MVC game that we played, so might we see our first team NCAA bid, since joining the MVC? I thought that Volleyball had a good shot at such a thing for this year's tourney, so it was very unfortunate that they ran into COVID issues.
Congratulations to these ladies on a terrific season! I hope they are able to make a run in the conference tournament! The quality of performance of the department as a whole does indeed appear to be trending upward. Perhaps patience is in order and we will get where we all want to go soon. Volleyball and Women's Soccer have posted very encouraging seasons. Women's basketball is clearly trending upward. Baseball looks like it might be slowly getting there. If we could break through in basketball finally I'd say we're really getting there but there appear to be green shoots appearing that might well be a sign of things to come. I sure hope so. I want to see Valpo teams succeed again.
Golden Goal wins it for Valpo against Indiana State in the semi-finals! Now on the Championship game versus Loyola!
Clearly Women's soccer is one of our sports that have really stepped it up to Valley level play. Volleyball is another. GREAT STUFF!! Congrats Ladies!!!! :thewave:
With 1 minute left before it would have gone to PKs! Playing for our first team NCAA berth since moving to the MVC!
Women's soccer is getting better.
Volleyball is getting better.
Women's basketball is getting better.
Basketball is (slowly) getting better in terms of finish.
As hard as it is to practice and cultivate perhaps patience is the order of the day. The results may well be coming soon. I would love to see a Valpo team in the NCAA Tournament. Maybe women's soccer is that team. Wasn't women's soccer also the sport that signaled our arrival when we first moved to the HL? If so maybe it's a sign of things to come and it can signal our arrival in the MVC as well!
Hats off to Loyola's overall athletics program this year. They seem to have made just about every conference tournament championship game. Here's hoping we take them down!
This is very exciting!! So glad the games are on ESPN so we can watch. Go Valpo! Beating Loyola would be so incredibly sweet.

It will be a tall order. Loyola was dominant in their game against us. Anything can happen in a one off game though. After all Loyola had to survive Double OT against Illinois State just to get to this game.
Nice recognition for the ladies!

Good attempt, but just not enough offensive firepower to come back, once we get behind. Very solid defensive season, and no shame in losing 1-0 in the championship game to the #1 seed/regular season champion. Onwards and upwards next season!
Great season ladies! No shame at all in losing to Loyola with the team that they have. Making the championship game is a huge step forward and a reason to be proud! Let's build on it and do at least as well next year!
Another late goal conference victory. They start playing the 3 worst teams so we should be 3-0 before it gets serious.

Alternatively, they just started the conference season 2-0 against the two teams picked 2nd and 3rd in the preseason poll.
What a great start to conference play. This should be an interesting season. Go Valpo!!
Happened to catch the game last night on ESPN. It is so much fun to see the team's success. They had so many shots on goal. I'll admit this is my first year following the girls soccer team. Instant fan. Can't wait to see the next one.
Winners keep winning!

Valpo's team is the only unbeaten and untied team in conference play.
Check out the amazing winning score:

Kelsie James is a star! Unbelievable talent. Really shouldn't be all the surprising as she was a two time Prep All American and probably the highest ranked soccer player in Valpo history. Oh, and she is only a sophomore!!!!!
I've watched that video so many times and every time I still think....WOW. Really looking forward to the Loyola game. If I wasn't out of town, I would definitely go and cheer on the girls. But they have some work to do before then. Keep it going girls!! Go Valpo!
Another big win last night. 2 more goals from James including one from maybe 40 yards out.
At Loyola this week for the conference championship and #1 seed.
Forecast for Chicago is rain on Thursday. Rough conditions, but hopefully an amazing game. Can't wait to watch (from the comfort of my couch). Go Valpo!!! Let's do this.
Big Game is TONIGHT!! Go get them girls!
If is wasn't such crappy weather, I would head over to Loyola to watch.

In other words, a pleasant English day.
GOAL by LOY Katharine Stephens (FIRST GOAL), Assist by Taylor Harrison and Alaina Abel, goal number 2 for season.
Time of Goal: 25:42
4 sends ball into box, 10 heads over to 17, 17 fires in from six yards
Team Totals (as of 28:34)
TEAM Shots SOG Saves Fouls Corners OffSides
VALPO 0 0 2 3 0 0
LU 7 3 0 3 6 0
Basically, one-sided game so far at the 1/3rd point
GOAL by LOY Megan Nemec, Assist by Taylor Harrison, goal number 7 for season.

2-0 LU
as of 34:13
LU has 11 shots, 4 Shots on Goal, 8 Corner kicks
VU has 0 shots, 0 shots on Goal, 0 Corner kicks
Valpo are being completely outplayed. Loyola's star player Nemec is doing everything, Kelsie James has hardly had a touch. Now down a player; hopefully we can turn it around for the tournament.
why were we down a player?
Was really hoping we'd get our first MVC team sport title but it was not to be. At least we'll be a very strong 2 seed and hopefully can avenge this loss in the tournament. Go Valpo! No matter what happens we should all be proud of this season from this group! Great season ladies! I hope it continues and will be even greater!
Go Beacons beat Evansville! This could be a special weekend for Coach Marovich and the Women's Soccer program
let's hope they can get the win tonight, and a revenge win against Loyola. They can do it but it won't be easy. GO VALPO!
Tough loss in the second OT. Loyola is far above the rest of the field this year, but our ladies deserved to play them in the championship again. Hopefully a sign of staying at the top again in Women's Soccer.
Sad to see the season end. it was a joy to watch these very talented women.
Could be our first conference championship! Let's hope so!

While it would be nice for the ladies to win-the question is
What does it do for the school-Athletics?
We need revenue generating sports(MBB) to win...Sorry but the other sports being successful does nothing for the long term health of the University
Of course it doesn't do as much as basketball but if the women's programs are winning programs they will attract high quality athletes. Winning does permeate through the campus. You can't tell me that having the winning volleyball team last year didn't enhance the student experience. The crowd was amazing. Don't diminish what this does for the university. These things do matter, just maybe not as financially significant as basketball. But we will have to wait a few years for that to be remotely a possibility. And I am having a lot of enjoyment watching these girls play.
Not the non-conference results that we wanted at 1-5-2, but we win our first conference game against a decent UNI team, 1-0. It looks like scoring is going to be tough to come by, so we are going to need more 1-0 results, in order to live up to the pre-season favorite rankings.
Good weekend with 2 conference wins!!
Now 3-0, so hopefully we continue that trend!
Missed a chance last night as Missouri State lost to Murray while we tied Illinois State probably the weakest team in the conference.
Yeah, Illinois State was a surprise, but it is a tight race at the top, now 3-1-1.
Back to the win column, 3-0 over Evansville. Heading into the homestretch, but Missouri State holds the tie-breaker.
Solid win on the road at Belmont 2-1, to become 6-6-3 (5-1-1). Between Women's Soccer, Volleyball, and Football, our other sports have a high bar set for them this season.
We lose to the 8 seed, Murray State, in the semifinal on our home field at 1-0. Some absolute piss poor final third passing, led to a bunch of opportunities, but really bad final pass attempts that didn't lead to what should have been more quality shots. Very unfortunate end to a promising conference season.
