I think we won 5 games all year last season!!

5-34;    1-23 in the Valley... ending on a 21-game losing streak.
Lets beat Binghamton today...  The bearcats are 5-4 on the season... this weekend in the round robin, the beat Holy Cross (formerly called the Crusaders) 3-2 and beat College of Charleston 1-0; and lost a doubleheader to Lipscomb 4-2 and 5-3.

We have never lost to Binghamton.

You jinxed us, as we go down 3-0 to Binghamton

So far, a good start to the season at 7-6!  It is tough to win the early season games for any program not in the South or West, due to the differences in practice sessions throughout the Winter months.

The think the change of coaches may have been a good idea!  Valpo beats Central Michigan 5-0!  Now 8-6 on the year!

We are now 9-11 (1-2), so still trending positive.

A solid non-conference has unfortunately not led to a good conference season.  We are now 9-21 (1-11).  Hitting seems to be the biggest problem, with several folks below the Mendoza Line.

FYI, Holy Cross is still the Crusaders. They just haven't used a knight in their logo since 2018.

After only 1 season, our HC has left for an AHC job at Notre Dame.  I guess that I can't fault her for taking such a job, but I have to believe that if she won at Valpo, she could have moved into a HC job for a P5 eventually.

That's two head coaches down in a week!  Charles Small must be a hard guy to work for!

I wonder what this will do for players who have signed commitment letters like this player.  Presume they can't get out of it with a coaches departure.

New coach's first job; re-recruit the incoming freshmen.

Hopefully Small has already personally reached out to the team and recruits to ensure of a smooth transition and a great hire

New coach hired!

https://www.valpoathletics.com/softball/news/2022-23/21504/meaggan-pettipiece-hired-as-valpo-softball-head-coach/

The good news is she has had lots of head Coaching experience.  10 years at Northwood and 2 years at Akron.  The bad news is she was fired from both.  As for the kids who signed or indicated they were transferring to Valpo from other schools, it looks like 5 of the announced 8 are on the roster.  The Oregon State transfer is not and 5 of the 7 announced freshman are on the roster.

That's what happens when your previous coach ditches in late July, after her unsuccessful season.  Not sure of the reasoning, other than a P-5 AHC job at ND, but it leaves you in a lurch with incoming players

Softball is playing a "Fall Exhibition Double-header" today (Sunday) at the softball complex against Grand Valley State starting at 1... (same time the Soccer team is hosting Drake).   Come on out...you can walk between the two and get in those steps and go to both.
