Interesting and great work digging it up Indy!!
I'm concerned though that we might end up with a seven footer at each end of the bench. Can he contribute??

Even if he could contribute, we would only get his services for one year. If he didn't really see the floor at Baylor, do we want anymore one-year projects?
Why just one year? He's just finished his sophomore season. Did he already redshirt? Otherwise, he sits next season, and then would have two seasons of eligibility remaining, right?

If he transfers, he loses a year of eligibility, and like you said, he just finished his sophomore season, so he would be a junior in the fall, then we would have him on the court for his senior season, meaning we would only have him for games for one year.

What? You get five years to play four. He's used two years and played two. Sitting out next year as a transfer, he's used three years and played two. Would have two more years left.

The transfer rule from D-1 to D-1 cuts out a year, because of the NCAA feel that a player is transferring for basketball/athletic reasons instead of academic reasons.
No it doesn't. As vusupporter said, you get 5 to play 4. Your year of sitting out counts as one of those five. As long as you didn't previously redshirt, you don't lose a year....the year you sit out essentially counts as your redshirt season.

Cory Johnson. 2 at Iowa State, transfer, 2 at Valpo.

LOL this isn't indiana high school basketball.
No, we would end up with 1 year out of him.
He would:
1. Redshirt
2. Play one year and graduate
3. Transfer to MSU to achieve an advance college degree not offered at VU.

Well played. I'm sitting here at the office after an especially hectic day and needed a good laugh...
I'd rather have Stargell Love...

Maybe you better redshirt on this thread. Of course you would lose a year of posting eligibility. :-)
Anyone know if Homer talked to this 6'8" guy before he landed at UIC? http://www.uicflames.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/051111aaa.html (http://www.uicflames.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/051111aaa.html) Seems like he might have been a fit.

i remember this guy. he played here at valpo high school. don't remember anything special from him at toledo though. so i don't feel too struck to not have him. although that kind of size seems to be lacking for us.

You might also remember him scoring 10 points and pulling down 14 rebounds in our loss to Toledo this past season. It's kind of hard to forget the worst OOC loss by any HL team all season. That was one of those games where little miss cheer or whatever she calls herself told the players that were under the weather that it was ok to give into their feelings and play a half-hearted game.
