The last few minutes they've shown signs of a pulse. Too little, too late. The final score is not indicative of how abysmal this game was.

Would this camera operator stop picking their nose and focus on their job? I'm trying to watch my team chuck up air balls and make stupid turnovers here.

This is eerily reminiscent of our performance against Milwaukee in the HL Tourney last season. It's going to be a hell of a long trip home if they don't turn a complete 180 in the second half.

Here is his G League page, with stats and highlights if anyone is interested: http://gleague.nba.com/player/alec-peters/

I'm not too optimistic about this one, especially on the road and the way we've been shooting from 3. 72-60 Purdue.

Alec shooting out of his mind, and isn't in the game for the final play.

From Scott Bordow, a Phoenix Suns beat writer.

With his contract, I think Alec has up to 45 days that he can be with the main roster? I'm not sure how much of that he's already burned through. They can always bring him back up from the G-League if he does extremely well or if there are injuries.

Oof, that's a heck of a score. At least they didn't actually lose by 50 on their opening game of their 50th season.  :-[

If anything though, I think this bodes well for Alec to get a lot of play time during his rookie season. It's nice to see him draining 3's again.

I never knew that an official basketball visit allows them to wear the school's uniform, and to workout in the gym.  Interesting.

Yeah I see kids posting pictures in University gear all the time on their official visits. Israel has taken a picture in every uniform of the schools he's visited. Weber State, UAB & now Valpo.

Israel Barnes thanked VU for his official visit and ended the tweet with this...〽️...what in the works does that mean?

After doing some Google-Fu... Apparently it's called a "Part Alternation Mark." In traditional Japanese music, it's used to signify the beginning of a singer's part.

Seems like a good spot for him to land. They're a young team, and he'll have a good shot at earning minutes once he's healed up. So happy for him!!  ;D

During my freshman year, Missouri State came into town for a bracket buster game on ESPN2, with Dick Vitale commentating. The ARC was full, the students were packed in like sardines (I got there when doors opened and was in the 2nd row), and the whole atmosphere was electric! We led pretty much the entire game, shooting 58% from the floor. That game, along with the home win against Butler that same season, cemented a love in my heart for Valpo and college basketball. I had never watched a full basketball game before stepping on campus. Now, I can't get enough!

I also distinctly remember being one of about eight students in the student section later in the year when we lost by 20 to Loyola. Looking back, that was really a season of ups and downs.

Yes, it's always been political and most of the voters are from in/around Indy, so it always skews heavily to that part of the state. Good players from the Region, Ft. Wayne, Evansville area and Kentuckiana are regularly overlooked.

That is one view--the other is that the central part of the state does have better players. Names like Conley, Teague, Hayward, Hill, etc. ring any NBA bells? Name four players in the NBA off the top of your head from the other parts of Indiana.

Glen Robinson III, Miles Plumlee, Mason Plumlee, and... Marshall Plumlee? That's all I've got.

Also, the Uptown East was still all under construction at that point, yes?
Nope, that was already done. I was living there at the time.

General Off Topic / St. Joseph's College to Close
February 03, 2017, 09:23:35 PM
The board of trustees has voted to close down St. Joseph's College.

Article: http://wlfi.com/2017/02/03/board-of-trustees-votes-to-temporarily-close-saint-josephs-college/

Apparently there will be a "Teach Out" process in coordination with other universities so that current students can finish their degrees. I wonder if Valpo will be involved with this at all, being another private, religiously affiliated institution just down the road?

Valpo is 33-9 all time against YSU.  When was the last time VU dropped a game to the Penguins?
I did some digging, and the last time was January 30th, 2013 at Youngstown. The final score was 80-68, with a starting lineup of Buggs, Bogan, Kenney, Broekhoff and Van Wijk. It's kind of funny looking back and seeing Vashil only getting 3 minutes off the bench. It's amazing how much he's improved since he arrived at Valpo.

Looking forward to catching the game tonight. I predict that Valpo bounces back after a slow start to win by 10+.  :twocents:
