Everyone was out of position, alot of new faces to look at. Was impressed by our freshman catcher, out field looked pretty good. Sticks diddnt show up , Besides a walk to Wiz I think that Illinois pitched a perfect game.  Should have the meat of the line up back together by next weekend when a few of the big sticks return. Expect a better showing at NW.

What ever her reasons for Joy coming back were Im just glad shes here she can defiantly cement that infield with her leadership. It will be a young infield. And im sure she will play a pivotal roll in bringing it together

We did but with Joy returning on the left side that will be a tremendous help. Pitching /catching will be the biggest challenge for the team this season IMHO. Very young at both positions. Offensively you still have some good sticks. Missing Rutkowski and Srickland will defiantly mean he needs to cultivate offense from his freshman. The remaining line up should still be competitive. Doerffler came into her own at the end of the season, Joy, Jessie, and Britt should be pretty tough in the meat of the order, Wiz is always a threat with her long ball. Brown will add maturity to the out field with Sara gone. Duncan or Hermanson should slide to the right side at 1. Norway has the potential to be a really nice out fielder. Bridwell is still as fast as any kid I have seen run the base pads.

With what he has coming in If he can get production from his freshman pitchers. We should be competitive. Can we repeat? It would be nice wouldn't it? We will see how much gas the new pitching core has. And what the meat of the order can do without the senior leadership of Rutkowski and Strickland.

Louisville Regional Breakdown

Louisville was supposed to be good, but nobody thought they would be this good. The Cardinals head into the NCAA Tournament with a 53-3 record with losses coming to only DePaul (twice) and Tennessee. The entire season has been a momentum builder for Coach Sandy Pearsall and company, but that momentum got another big boost during the Big East Tournament. After knocking off Connecticut and DePaul, the Cardinals won in dramatic fashion against Notre Dame. That walk off homerun by Jordan Trimble has given this Cardinals team a ton of confidence heading into the big tournament.

However, that momentum could be quickly dismissed by a tough group that includes Michigan, Kentucky and Valparaiso. The Wolverines are very young, especially with freshmen pitchers Haylie Wagner and Sara Driesenga leading the way, but they are a talented team. The offense is not particularly strong, but Michigan can win games with their pitching. Kentucky's Sara Dill is a superb hitter and could be the toughest test for all of the quality pitchers in this region. However, senior pitchers Chanda Bell and Rachel Riley better be on their best game if the Wildcats want to get past Louisville and Michigan. By the numbers, Valpo has the best offense in the Louisville Regional. However, the level of competition should be too much for Jordan Rutkowski, Brittany Duncan, Jessie Marinec and the rest of the Valpo sluggers.

I sent this to my dd for her to forward on to the rest of the team. I hope it offends them and places a chip on their shoulders and they bring another level of play to Louisville

I told her 25 dollars had to be worth at least 3 HR balls. If not she owes me. Suddenly we got bad reception and she she hung up............... coincidence? I somehow doubt it lol

I wonder if that's all that's on offer?

I was thinking of taking the kids for a game, or dropping in for a few innings here and there myself.  But, if it's $25 a person, that may not happen...

Four games in all are scheduled for Thursday at the Valparaiso University Softball Field.  Fans can purchase an all-day pass for $8, with senior citizens and youths 5-18 only $5.  Youths under the age of five, as well as Horizon League students (with student ID), will be admitted free of charge.  If you are unable to make it to the park, live stats for every game will be available through www.horizonleague.com.

Fantastic job, The comeback was incredible. Defiantly not a game for game tracker, you had to witness it yourself to believe it. The heart that this team has is scary. Lets hope they keep the momentum rolling at ND.

You know how this goes. There are Darlings of any conference and there are those that have to prove themselves. We just need to make a statement on the field. Let the Darling,s ride on their Laurels. I would rather have the girls play with a chip on their shoulder and feel they have something to prove.......... 1 day and a wake up .

The team has all the pieces in place to take the conference and go to the world in my opinion. Now all they have to do is make the pieces work. With 7 graduating this season its a now or never ( well at least a few more years anyway ) situation for them. 6 days to Iowa I know they have to be getting jittery and pumped!!!!!!!
