I just watched the Valpo news conference from the Horizon media day and two things stood out. First, when asked about who would back up Keith Carter, Bryce mentioned Max Joseph, expecting him to see plenty of court time. The second thing was very interesting. When asked which teammate had made the most improvement over the summer, both Alec and Vashil said Nick Davidson. Alec said he expected Nick to make a good contribution to this year's team.
Nick is one name we have talked about very little. Sure hope he has a good year.
I coach a different sport, and only at the high school level. However, one thing that I have noticed over the years is that the kids who are not as naturally gifted athletically are the ones that work the hardest and do every little thing possible to get better and prove people wrong. I have the feeling that this is the type of personality Davidson has. Sometimes these kind of kids become great contributors by their Junior and Senior years. Other times they simply do not have the tools to make it happen no matter how hard they work. Hopefully Nick will be a pleasant surprise!

Good point. When I was reading you comment I immeadiately thought about Jake Diebler.

I would take a Diebler and/or Colclasure-like career from Davidson. Both didn't do a ton their FR and SO years, but became solid contributors in their JR and SR years

Sorry, I was correct that Seth didn't play much his FR and SO years, and forgot that Diebler played a lot from SO-SR :)
Interesting that Jake's and Nick's freshman numbers are virtually identical.
Let us not forget that Jake came in as the Ohio D2 POY (2005). He was much more highly regarded and was a standout leader before he arrived on campus.
