Well done.  UCF may not be a tournament team, but they are quick and aggressive around the basket.  Our zone was effective in keeping them off the pace I suspect they'd like to play.  Our size led them to play zone most of the game and we did a good job of attacking it most of the night.  Despite some silly fouls that could have proven costly, we looked solid.  Mercer promises to be another good test.  Wish our students could see some of these games but we need home games against decent competition whenever we can get them.

Yeah, but that is another what? 400 kids?  Yeah, but why can't the City of Valpo get more interested in seeing a team like UCF?  2300? What's up with the complacency??

If Valpo woulda picked up one or two road wins, especially that Illinois game the "community" woulda been more fired up for it.  There were a LOT of season ticket folks who weren't there.  The "sky is falling" weather forecast kept people away.

The area can be pretty fickle about Valpo Basketball IMO.  Once these freshmen are more "stars" (that we know they will be) it will be a much easier draw.

Am I crazy for wanting to try starting Lexus at point until Carter is ready?  Trial by fire sure helped Eric Buggs and I see a lot of potential in Lexus' game.

Could it be to try to get more power or clout from the VU administration?  Could VU counteroffer with a higher salary?  Could VU counteroffer with assurance of improved facilities, better travel budget, nicer office desk, daily steak and eggs for breakfast, etc.?

I can totally see the AD saying "come on steak and eggs at Jimmy's everyday...what is it gonna take?"  hahahahahaha

I refuse to accept play in games as round 1.  Someone keeps editing the Detroit Titans wikipedia page to reflect last year as a ROUND 1 loss rather than round 2.  That implies you won a game

Bryce's name was mentioned on the 2 main Chicago sports radio stations within the past 90 min. as someone whose name will come up as a possible candidate for the NW vacancy.  One of the talking heads said he may be actually beyond a job like NW after 2 excellent seasons at Valpo in addition to his "pedigree."  They talked about the struggle IL had last year getting high profile candidates interested, even though it is considered a much better job than NW.

I totally agree with whoever you heard.  NU is, at best, a SIDE STEP from Valpo.  NU has NEVER been to NCAA and we are in THIS YEAR.  NU's gym is pathetic and their athletic department has NEVER been behind the basketball team...even in years they had a chance to do something.  They are in the wrong conference and in the wrong city.   Now if Matt Painter woulda gotten fired...

The spartans are going to make Valparaiso their pretty little girlfriend on thursday. This win may be convincing enough and brutal enough that it will stay in your psyche for years to come. If you were considering attending this game, I'd advise against it. You wont have a good time. 

Who care who wins or loses the game, its being held in the state of Michigan and THAT is the reason not to go.

A few of us tried to meet at Figure 8 and it was closed.  They are normally closed Tuesdays, but if I had a brewery I'd be open for 4k plus basketball fans during spring break.  Stacks seemed to benefit as I couldn't get in the door pre game

There is one school that Valpo has a leg up on facilities.  Northwestern basketball is a joke.  No chance Bryce goes there, IMO.  Now if Matt Painter gets the axe...

Reality is that Homer was a pioneer in doing it.  Other programs saw him getting big men from Europe and athletes from Jamaica and Australia, ect...

It would seem now we are more focused on under-rated talents from the midwest and transfers.
