Congrats to Erik Hromadka (1988) who is receiving the 2014 Alumni Achievement Award on October 12th at the Chapel of the Resurrection!

Much was written about him by gracious alumni on the old Valpo Fan Forum (the predecessor of this fine site).

I would like to surprise him with this thread at Homecoming.  So please list you favorite Erik story.  (If you do not know him or of his legendary time at Valpo and Sigma Tau Gamma, please check out the Valpo Fan Forum or www.gwtr.com.)

Thank you

Does anyone know when the VUAA will be announcing the winners of the 2013 Alumni Achievement Awards?

Thanks for any info.

I spoke to a buddy in Indianapolis and he said some bad weather is on the horizon due to the storms hitting the east coast.

Can someone in Valpo (I'm in the western U.S.) step outside and write a reply to this post, explaining what is going on weather-wise?  It would be especially appreciated if you could run down to Mound Street and report from there.

Thanks and god bless!

VU grad Erik Hromadka ('88) spoke today. How did it go?

Wed, Oct 10th - 1:45pm - 3pm Workshop IV-A: Addressing the Challenges & Providing Solutions to Water Infrastructure Problems

Pfister Grand Ballroom

In the U.S. and throughout the developed world, demand for water is outstripping the ability of aging infrastructure to supply it safely, efficiently, and economically. The challenge is too great to solve by brute force. Instead, we need to develop and deploy innovative solutions that drive greater efficiency, reduce energy costs, and maintain the quality and safety we have come to expect. The panel will discuss the key challenges and a range of solutions including smart water networks that use some of the same principles as the smart energy grid to manage water effectively, detect leaks and deteriorating infrastructure, and ensure water quality.

Harry Hinrichs (son of Sig Tau Paul) is playing at the Cornucopia in downtown Valpo tonight (7-9 pm), and tomorrow he is opening for Planetary Blues at 3 pm.  Check him out.  He is awesome.

No need to be a Sig Tau to give.  Please give!

Thanks.
