As I live in Indy, it's a shorter drive for me. I don't know if I'll be able to attend though, might be watching it on streaming feed.

If you're in Indy, milan, you'll be able to watch it on WNDY.

Yes I'm in section 27 and the seats are $20. Parking can be some what of a hassle unless you get there 1 hour to 45 minutes before game time. They only allow season ticket holders with parking passes to park in the lot next to Hinkle and the lot up the hill from the Butler Bowl (football field). Eastern time the game is 2:00 pm in Indy so that is the time you will see on the tickets. When I bought the tickets at the Hinkle Fieldhouse ticket office on Monday the ticket manager said there were single and double sets left at the edge of the lower bowl and that most of the tickets remaining were in the most upper section. Most of the lower bowl is taken up by season tickets. Since the Bulldogs lost to Evansville and don't seem as talented as the last 2 years there isn't as much fever for Butler in Indy as before.

You just highlight the part you want, and hit the "Quote (selected)" button.  It has replaced the original quote button.

I'm afraid I'm only seeing the "quote" button and not a new "quote (selected)" button. Anyone else seeing the "quote (selected)" button? Am I the only one not seeing it?

These are the three buttons I'm seeing:

Quote   Modify   Remove

Weird... Try a hard refresh (control + shift + r) and see if that changes it.

Tried that and no luck.

Is anyone else besides valpo04 seeing the "quote (selected)" button?

This is really not a part of the topic

If you know it's in the wrong thread when you posted it then why leave your post in this thread? Lazy? Clicked on the wrong thread but don't care enough about other posters' time to fix it? (You could delete the post and start a new thread or go back and find the correct thread). This really shows a disregard for the other posters and the look of the board in general. I know it's kind of nit picking but if every poster did this the board would be impossible to read. What makes setshot so special that he can commit this error?

Ok. I'll stop ranting.

By the way, when I highlighted setshot's text and hit the "quote" button it still quoted the whole post. Is there a special "quote (selected)" button or just the regular "quote" button?

TG the losing streak is over. Unfortunately,IMO, we will lose to Davidson and begin a 6-8 game losing streak until we get a win toward the end of next season. Maybe, just maybe, we can schedule a patsy like Holy Cross to open the 2012 season. A win in the season opener could do wonders for the the team and VU. Here's hoping. ;)

Holy Cross Crusaders of Worcester, MA? Of the Patriot League?

Or are you talking about Holy Cross College of Notre Dame, IN?  Do they even play football at HCC of Indiana?

One place that I have heard in Indy that is hiring is investigators at the NCAA headquarters. The thing is your resume must be pretty extensive. The NCAA has been saying lately that they are terribly understaffed as far as investigators are concerned. This is just one ramification of that shortage. Have you ever noticed how many scandals they truly have to investigate?

Or as in mens basketball should the tournament be seeded with single or double byes given to the 1st and 2nd place teams. That ensures a higher seed (higher than #6 at least) makes the NCAA tourney.

Sounds silly doesn't it?  I think I can show that we played a very good football team earlier this year.

Here's the proof:  YSU just beat NDSU who was ranked #1 nonBCS.  NDSU beat Minnesota who beat Iowa who beat Michigan who beat Illinois who beat Arizona State who beat USC who beat Notre Dame who beat Michigan State who beat Wisconsin.

I rest my case.

Seriously, our win over Campbell should not be underestimated.  It wasn't on a rainy day on a freak play winning 13-10.  It was a full blown battle on both sides of the ball and a great win over a team who beat San Diego who beat both Drake and Dayton.  Here we come baby!!!!   ;D

You enjoy Kevin Bacon and the six degrees of seperation also, don't you?   :)  This is really some illogical thinking but I understand it was done in a fun way and is good for message board chatter

Why did this need its own thread? Ughh.

The other threads were probably getting too long for setshot. Sometimes it's easier to open up a new thread than to try and figure how far down the old thread you had already read without missing a few of the posts. Not that I'm advocating opening new threads when you think the old thread is too long for yourself but it certainly is easier to find the newest posts. I get the concept but for board cleanliness it is not a great idea. This leads to too many threads.

4th and 26

Those words equal heart attack moment for any Packers fan following this thread!  (http:// en.wikipedia.org/ wiki/ 4th_and_26)

Great win for the seniors, the underclassmen, and the University.  Part of me wants to say, "about **** time", but that goes without saying.  For the first time in what feels like an eternity, our place in the ESPN ticker is something positive.  Thank God!

I have a close family member who's on the team as a freshman, I'll be very curious to hear his take on what the environment was like following the win.  Up until today, I just planned to ignore Valpo football when talking to him at Thanksgiving and Christmas!

Personally I think you should have to print all the negative comments you have ever posted on this board and eat THEM for your Thanksgiving meal in front of your freshman family member on the Valpo football team. That to me seems like poetic justice.

On The Horizon / Re: Butler at Evansville
November 12, 2011, 05:08:20 PM
It turns out Smith was fouled on the last play after the refs reviewed the replay and said the shot did not get off in time and Smith missed both FT's. The game went to OT where the Purple Aces pulled out the win. My bad for posting too early.

It did look like Smith got fouled on the final play of regulation but why did the refs have to see the replay to make the call. Now NCAA refs are getting too scared to make a call until they see the replay. Just like NFL refs. Just make the call like you used to and the game is over if that is the call. What a sham these refs are.

Congratulations Seniors and to the whole football team. I am really happy for them!

On The Horizon / Butler at Evansville
November 12, 2011, 04:23:49 PM
Andrew Smith just caught a 3/4 court pass from under the Evansville basket and laid it in for the field goal with 0.9 seconds left to lift Butler to a 71-69 win over the Purple Aces in Evansville's new Ford Center. It was another what almost seems typical of a lot of Butler teams "right-down-to-the-wire-finish." What an exciting game!

Butler always seems to find a way to win all these last second shot games. Except of course when Gordon Hayward missed that final shot against Duke in the National Championship game 1 1/2 years ago.

Here is the channel listings for WNDY-TV on the cable & TV systems in Indiana it is carried by. Nothing close to Valpo but that doesn't keep you from driving to the closest town and watching the game in a restaurant or bar.

Nothing like a drive to Terhune or Deerlick to see the Huskers!  :)

Terhune is only a 2 hour 15 minute drive from Valpo.

Valpo Basketball / Re: Georgia Southern game: 11/11/11
November 12, 2011, 01:05:39 PM
I agree that Bryce being able to keep this team from fading at the end of the Georgia Southern game and pulling out the win shows that he will be a great coach and shows he is just what Valpo needed to follow his father as the head coach.

And regarding the "half full/half empty arena vs. gym distinction", wonderful, the ARC was full against Butler and MO State.  The atmosphere was electric.  Great.  Did those games garner interest from recruits?  Sure.  From a revenue standpoint, so what?  All things being equal, given its size, a 100% filled to capacity ARC brings in the same amount of revenue as a 50% filled Hinkle Fieldhouse, a 71% filled UIC Pavilion, or a 48% filled Nutter Center.  Those facilities may not always be full but at least I can buy a ticket to watch the game behind a basket at any of the aforementioned facilities without having the need to stand on a walking track for the entire game.

Actually Butler is getting $29 this year for it's cheapest ticket and $40 for most of their seats which I don't think that VU comes close to charging for their seats. So Butler probably reaps more revenue than VU even when Hinkle Fieldhouse is 50% filled.

I really hope with the addition of Boggs and Bogan we don't have to see Buggs for more than 10 minutes a game.  I think Buggs can play a really important role as a defensive, energy guy off the bench but with his complete and total ineptitude on offense he really should never be anymore than that.

I say give Buggs a chance to figure out some way to be a scoring threat. If he totally bottoms out then take away his minutes. It's totally up to Bryce now. That may be the biggest change in this Buggs situation.

Quote from: valpopal on November 03, 2011, 09:46:45 PM
Highlight of the game: when Kevin got hurt and couldn't shoot the free throws, Augustana's coach chose Buggs to shoot for Kevin. Erik made two beautiful free throws that touched nothing but net! Everybody in my section looked at one another and smiled. As I suggested after the Hillsdale game, it is clear that Erik's free throw form has definitely improved.
What does everybody think of Erik Buggs now. Should we see more of Boggs and Bogan and not more than 10 minutes of Buggs per game OR more of Buggs?
I think Bryce just knows more about pushing the right buttons with Buggs.

Oh, yeah, I'm back. I was not in touch with a computer this summer and waited for the basketball season to begin. Things are much less hectic now. If you were wondering I wasn't gone because of dcvalpo, who I notice has left the board, but because of personal circumstances.
