I think that this is the first former Valpo player to play in England. Good luck Jubril.

valpotx

Paul Guede did, but he was English :)

Chairback

Did Guede ever get into a game or even dress up?  I can't remember if he ever did

vu84v2

True, but I do not think Paul Guede ever played in a game for Valpo (per my memory and collegebasketballreference.com).

valpotx

I don't believe so, but he was on the roster, and I believe on campus at some point?

It looks like Rowdy signed a two year contract to stay in the Australian NBL.  Congrats to him!

Highly recommended! A number of pretty cool insights into Alec's senior year and what makes him tick along with some personal revelations.

It appears that Alec has a torn ACL. Wish him the best for a healthy return.

Is it confirmed it's an ACL? I just read knee injury. If it's an ACL he's be out for the season. If it's less severe like an MCL it would be a quicker recovery

Jacob didn't have a huge number of 3 pointers though against Div III Birmingham-Southern. He was 1 of 2 on three pointers, 5 of 10 on two pointers and 17 of 18 free throws. The Bisons beat Birmingham-Southern 105-98. The score at halftime was 50-50. Defense was not the name of the game in Nashville last night.

"I'll be honest: I don't feel like we played particularly well", assistant coach Kevin Carroll said. "Ahsan Asadullah is our go-to guy, and he just had kind of an off night tonight. Even JO [Ognacevic] had a couple of uncharacteristic misses."

With Asadullah injured and fellow big man Parker Hazen on three fouls early in the half, Lipscomb lost most of its inside presence and quickly lost its lead as well.

Yeah, you are right. Jacob only shot 50% from the field, including 3-pointers, and although he did a fine job getting to the line, he did miss one of his 18 free throws, so he merely had 95%; plus, though he did lead the team in offensive rebounds, he might have gotten more than 7 total rebounds, which was only 2nd on the team, if he wasn't just coming off the bench and was good enough to be a starter. I don't know what I was thinking when I was under the impression he had a good game!

Why do you find it necessary to criticize me for pointing out an aspect of Jacob's game that did not come through in your post? I never said that Jacob didn't have a very good game. I just felt it necessary to point out that this game was against a Div III team, that despite Jacob scoring 30 points Lipscomb only pulled the game out in the last minutes of the game and that their asst coach said "I don't feel like we played particularly well".

If Valpo had beaten Div. III DePauw University 105-98, the score was 50-50 at halftime and Sheldon Edwards had scored 30 points by shooting 1 of 2 threes, 5 of 10 two pointers, 17 of 18 free throws and had 7 rebounds and Luke Gore had said "I don't feel we played particularly well"

that if a another person had said "Sheldon Edwards scores 30 points pulls in 7 rebounds in 30 minutes of playing time during his first game with Valpo to give them an opening night win" that the statement didn't exactly characterize what kind of game it was?

I always thought JO was undervalued at Valpo and should have been given more opportunities to shoot 3 pointers which is where I thought Jacob's value was best applied.  But in Lipscomb's win against Div. III Birmingham-Southern this is not what Lipscomb did with Jacob. He was fouled at least 8 to 12 times (18 free throws) and Jacob obviously made his free throws and several lay ups/short two pointers and had a very good game.

a3uge

How on earth is he STILL coming off the bench? It was criminal at Valpo, and is criminal now.

Siggy scored 26 last night in his first game for Converse. And Javon had 25/10/8 in their first game.

Always interesting to keep track of those that left early:

Marten Linssen is a strong contributor for a solid SLU team, including a 19 pt/8 rebound effort against usc's precious SFASU team :) : https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4279174/marten-linssen

Parker Hazen appears to have found his niche, in sticking to closer shots and rebounding: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4279172/parker-hazen

Jacob Ognacevic can apparently rebound and work inside?  https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4703983/jacob-ognacevic

After 2 years at Southern University, Micah Bradford is apparently finishing his career at NAIA Arizona Christian University: https://www.acufirestorm.com/stats/2021-22/MBB/teamcume.htm

Daniel Sackey started hot from 3, but has come back down to Earth and will probably continue that trend: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4397512/daniel-sackey

Donovan Clay still fills the stat sheet, and is apparently shooting just a bit better: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4592730/donovan-clay

JFL is who we thought he was, a complete stud, and had apparently found a more consistent 3 point shot: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4397511/javon-freeman-liberty

Mileek McMillan seems to have the same type of role that he had at Valpo, providing key minutes, but not a lot of stats: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4279176/mileek-mcmillan

Nick Robinson is the best player at Western Carolina, and seems to be matching the quality we saw from him last season, before we forced his decision: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4066509/nicholas-robinson

Sigurd Lorange has found the correct level for him at D2 Converse, and appears to be one of their top players: https://govalkyries.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats/2021-22

Similar to Siggy, Steven Helm is at the correct level for him at NAIA Indiana Tech, and seems to be a decent contributor to their team: https://indianatechwarriors.com/sports/mens-basketball/stats?path=mbball

Not sure about Goodnews Kpegeol, as he is on the roster for JUCO Gulf Coast State, but doesn't have any stats: https://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2021-22/div1/teams/gulfcoaststatecollege?view=lineup  http://www.gcathletics.com/mensbasketball/roster.html

Bryce Drew has Grand Canyon off to a 7-1 start: https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/2253/grand-canyon-antelopes

Daniel Sackey was 3-5 on 3pt shots last time out and is shooting the 3 at a 43% clip for the season.
