I wish him well.  Wonder why the last minute replacement?

OK, but why did the previous coach leave?

Paperwork issues??

I wish Carlson well, but he has a rough beginning - especially with the turnaround time, getting to know the coaching staff, installing his system, getting to know the players.  He has his work cut our for him.

I find it interesting in the Lindenwood announcement that he coached at Valpo for 4 years  his record was not reported, while at the other schools he coached the records were reported.

Interesting football field at Lindenwood-Belleville with alternating colors every 10 yards using contrasting maroon and silver.

If you're familiar at all with the St Louis area this is the old Belleville West HS campus and football field. The color scheme was new in 2012. The Belleville West teams are called the Maroons so you can see where the color scheme developed.

Their schedule isn't that different from Valpo's. The Lynx play Missouri Baptist, Olivet Nazarene (Kankakee/Bourbonnais), St Francis (Ft Wayne), Marian U (Indy), St Francis (Joliet), Taylor U (Upland, IN) and Concordia (Ann Arbor, MI). Coach Carlson is very knowledgeable of these teams.

I would say so!  It appears that all the seats are in the end zones!

Quite an investment in the FB program what with the new field, renovated stands and new locker facility. They did in one year what took Valpo a decade to accomplish. I would disagree a bit with the similarity of schedule, however. With the exception of the one NAIA school on the schedule, the VU schedule is all  D-I FCS schools.  I do agree that Carlson is back in his own element and will know how to complete in that environment   I wish him well and hope that he learned from the mistakes he made in his Valpo tenure.  He is taking over a program late in the year that has been in existence for a while and practically winless -- just like at Valpo at the time. Interesting that the press release focused on his record of starting up new programs....... Again. As we discussed here, it is a different thing to start a program from scratch vs. turning a program around. He did well in the former but poorly in the latter.
