How many points does Bradley lose by? I say they lose by 30 points.
I'd say about 20
I just hope valpo can make the tourney again within the next 5-10 years
Bradley loses by 20.
Murray State beats Marquette.
Murray State and Belmont both win at least one game MVC with massive egg on its face...
Belmont wins two games...Murray does not beat Marquette.
Murray St. and Belmont both loose their first games played and we quickly go back to the expansion conversation.
Bradley surprises all the nation and upsets a sleeping MSU by 8pts.
Hey you never know.....
MVC teams playing in other tourneys:
Loyola @ Creighton in NIT (Tuesday)
Drake vs Southern Utah in CIT (Friday)
I was encouraged by the inclusion of Belmont and others and the non inclusion of Indiana, NC State and others (it shouldn't even be debateable). I think the selection committee has finally taken a step in the right direction where before they were moving in the wrong direction. Also that Worried-SeatinHall game will be wonderful to watch.
Any interest in a board pick'em?
Yahoo? CBS? I could set one up.
Good idea. Set one up. Winner gets 5 minutes uninterrupted air time on Union Street Hoops. Paul?
Here is the link for our pick'em:

FUN... I did my annual "Closest to the Chapel" bracket... Purdue beats Bradley in the National Championship game.
if you think that's nuts, Abilene Christian beats Baylor in the "Alphabetical Order" bracket.
(I don't select any of the Dayton Play-in teams to advance.
glad I'm betting the houses' money on this one!
Halftime --- Belmont up. Loyola - down. ESPNU
Belmont 81 Temple 70 Loyola falls to Creighton
I am now officially a Belmont fan!
While I have always believed schools should not pay players, it really leaves a bad taste in my mouth that the very first ad I see after the opening preview segment of the tournament is Jay Wright hawking Loews.
I know Nova is worlds away from Valpo but it's not hard to see why players don't feel they need to be loyal to a school or a coach.
Halftime. Bradley up. Belmont up

Belmont wins two games...Murray does not beat Marquette.
Needless to say, this was a colossally bad prediction.
We owe the MVC a tournament win... and soon... And until we get it our debt is not repaid and we are not and should not be considered on equal footing with our peers. They could have had Ja Morant instead they got a glorified NAIA school. The decision to take us over Murray State might end up being the decision that kills the MVC. I'm so embarrassed ashamed sad and disgusted right now. I can't BELIEVE we had the audacity to accept an invite to this conference with no plan in place to get better. That's DISGRACEFUL. If we wanted to continue acting like a mid con HL level program why bother stepping up to the big leagues?

Is anybody really good at bracket?. Some of mine are busted bad already. Most of us still luv ya!! :-)
At walsh and kelly we had a 10 dollar buy in...you get 2 teams at random...if your team beats the spread and wins your team moves on...if your team wins but doesn't cover then you forfeit your team to whoever had the team that beat you....kind of odd but i got Kentucky and Oregon so im feeling good

This prediction ended up pretty good...
Bradley played incredibly well...they represented the MVC just fine today on the court.

I meant for adding us instead of Murray State...
Meanwhile on the Racer board...
Belmont and Murray are going to be good again next year. The MVC may have missed it's chance - but hey, there's always Valpo! Good luck with that.
Can't fight it... It's true... They've earned the right to say it...
I don't think Wofford has anything to be Worried about. Their opponent looks to take their Seat-in-the-Hall.
Of course when I post this Hall gets the game down to 11.

As angst filled as our fan base in right now I promise you it's not as bad as Virginia fans during this halftime.
Anteaters. Time for another beer.
Gonzaga looks awesome against Scott Drew's Baylor Bears. A matchup against Florida State will be fun to watch.
I had not seen Murray State play this year, so I thought I'd check them out today against #4 seed Florida State. Unfortunately, they were overwhelmed in a 28-point loss.
Florida State is going to do that to a lot of teams. That is the same program that bounced a very good Gonzaga team in last year's Sweet 16. Their length and size are problematic for teams. Dark horse Final 4 team IMO.
If you wanted to see how good Murray State can be and what they can do for the MVC you should have seen them against Marquette two days ago.
Scott Drew just made a move which backfired leaving Vital in the game with 3 fouls. The foul for #4 was certainly iffy but Gonzaga did just what you'd expect and went after him.

Very iffy, but you're right - big gamble that turned into a big mistake.
Scott Drew and Mark Few are really great coaches. Baylor played hard in the second half.
Does anyone else feel as much satisfaction as I do, in that LSU's winner against Maryland, was most likely a travel? That foul/no call committed on Keith Carter, which didn't allow us an opportunity to tie, feels a little bit better today.
Auburn was fantastic last night - a beautiful first half showing how the sport should be played.

As a Kansas fan, I completely agree with you. Ball movement, strong defense, etc. I do not like Bruce Pearl, but that team played great.

Every time I see Bruce Pearl get upset or rant on the sideline, I can't help but think he reminds me of Shakey the Mohel in Seinfeld!
Anyone want to join Eaternation?
Suddenly I've decided on a ant-e-diet.

Houston is definitely a fun team to watch! I wish Valpo would be that athletic!

I have Houston in my Final Four in a big family/friends pool, losing to Duke in the Championship game. My other 2 Final Four picks are Virginia and Buffalo (my sleeper that already bombed).
Lipscomb with 7 point win over Wichita St to advance to NIT championship game. TCU- 1 seed and Texas-2 seed in other bracket. Lipscomb won at TCU 73-64 in Nov.
someone brought up comparisons to Lipscomb and us: Snubbed for an at large, used that as motivation to power to the championship but another thing they may have in common: losing their coach shortly after their season is over.
And subsequent MVC membership? Just throwing it out there
Lipscomb is WAY better than us (last year). They can really rebound. Great win last night. They would be a very good Valley addition.
Let's get both Nashville private schools and Murray State and find a good 14th.

Lipscomb's budget was 258th in the country, and below the smallest MVC budget (Indiana State at 213). Factoring in additional travel costs, it doesn't make a ton of sense. Lipscomb doesn't have a lot of sustained success - this year was their first year in program history with a positive SRS (this was Valpo's first negative SRS in 9 years).

Lipscomb will remain better than Valpo for as long as Garrison Mathews has eligibility. IOW one more game.
Wow the parrallels between this Lipscomb team and the 15-16 Valpo team are so striking. First of all Lipscomb absolutely proved that they were worthy of a shot at the tournament just like that Valpo team. I wonder if their coach has one foot out the door already too.
