It is about time that he had his own consistent thread for information to post, similar to Peters!
https://www.mavs.com/ryan-broekhoff-sharpshooter/
I don't understand the NBA, or the Maverick's in particular:
They needed 3 pt. shooters, so they signed Rowdy, who was a well known sharp shooter, who also had other skills - defense & rebounding. THEN THEY ONLY PLAYED HIM IN 42 GAMES. This year they only won 33 games and only averaged 34% from behind the arc. Rowdy topped the team (except for a guy who only attempted 11) at over 40%. YET HE ONLY PLAYED IN 42 GAMES.

Simple. Rowdy doesn't jump out of the gym or break ankles with his cross over. Nothing spectacular in his game. No drama. No hype coming out of college. Not some exotic European phenom. All he does is make shots, get hustle rebounds and loose balls, play solid team defense, and make his teammates better. The more he plays the better he gets and the more he contributes. Afraid it's going to take some time for nba teams to realize he can be a valuable contributor. Just hope Dallas or some other team figures it out soon.
Yes, his time was much more consistent over the last 1-2 months, after that trade opened up more PT for him. He did what he needed to do with that time, and I do hope that he is back with the Mavs. They will take their usual chances at signing a big name to pair with Luka and Porzingis, and Rowdy is a great value at $1.7m. Rowdy will get scooped up by another NBA team, if the Mavs are dumb enough to let him walk.
Congrats to Rowdy and his wife on the new baby boy! The Mavs tweeted out a congrats:

I like little announcements like this that let you get to know the players better as people. In Chicago, the Bears always seem to do a good job personalizing the players, doing things to give back to the community, especially doing things with kids.
I believe that as of 12 am this morning, Rowdy's contract is now guaranteed, so he is officially an NBA player for another season! Now, it just depends on the moves that the Mavs make, if he stays with Dallas, or is shipped into another deal or salary dump.

I heard a rumor that Broekhoff was actually discovered on an un-aired episode of Shark Tank where Mark Cuban had partied too much the night before and thought the inventor had said "would you like a white Russian from Australia named like a double Dutch clutch." Cuban thought he was buying an alcoholic drink.

Ryan hit his first 3 of the 2019-20 season last night in Cleveland. Thought I would bring this data over from another thread. Another interesting note from last night, the Cavs-Mavs game had 2 players coached by Bryce Drew -- Darius Garland (Cavs) and Rowdy. It would have had 2 Australian Boomers Olympic players, but Delly was out last night.
Final 2018-19 Season stats and rankings of Valpo NBA players scoring:
Bryce 1081 (34 gms, 118 rookie year)
John Janisch 734
Milt Schoon 616
Bob Dille 296
Ryan Broekhoff 167 (42 games)
Alec Peters 82 (20 games)
Don Bielke 14
A second similar year will likely move him past Bob Dille. He would need a greater role in 19-20 to pass Schoon and Janisch, but 8 ppg over 70 games would have him closing in on Bryce.
He had been hurt since the preseason, so it was good to see him get a few minutes. His 3 was clean, and that is what he needed to do, to show that he can again contribute quickly in potential limited minutes.
In 12 minutes of play, Ryan went 3/3 from 3 tonight and picked up 4 rebounds and an assist in a... checks notes... 142-94 blowout of Golden State. :o
Box Score (https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401160850)
Rowdy wasn't even suited up on Monday night against the Spurs. Glad he does well when given the opportunities. I miss watching him and his teammates play at Valpo.
He did what he needed to do. His preseason really hurt his playing chances up to this point. He was battling an injury, and did not shoot well at that point. In the very limited minutes he has seen now, he is showing that he can contribute points in short minutes, as needed. I hope to see his role expand to at least 5 mpg, so we will see.
He was cooking in the 4th quarter of that blowout win yesterday! (Every game that passes I get more and more excited that I put money down on Doncic to win MVP)
Ryan came in last night after Porzingis fouled out (Doncic is out with an injury). They needed an additional three point shooter in the last minute to try to rally. Ryan came in and hit his only three, drew a foul shooting a three, and hit two of three free throws (all in one minute of play). Note that he now leads the NBA in three point shooting for players that have had more than one attempt from three point range (83.3% on six attempts).
Rowdy getting some good run in the second quarter against the 76ers! He has played the entire quarter (5 minutes left), and has 8 points on 3/5, 2/4 (3 pt) shooting, with 1 rebound. Give the man some consistent run Carlisle!!!!
He ended up playing the entire 2nd quarter, but now 3/7 & 2/5 (3 pt). He had two tough shots go in and out, so I think that he will still get some minutes in the second half.
Nice to see him get some minutes. The more minutes he plays the better he gets.
18 minutes total for the game, 8 pts, 2-5 from three point range.
He now leads the NBA in three point field goal percentage for players with more than 10 attempts (7-11, 64%). Interestingly, the next two are also Mavericks' reserves (Lee and Berea).
He needs to play more than Courtney Lee, going forward. Rowdy was the odd man out for several games on the active roster, where Lee was probably the last man in. Lee sucks, and is extremely overpaid. Barea is a Dallas Mavericks icon, and should also get more PT Than Lee.
nice 35-footer at the buzzer ending the first quarter last night. I'll give Oren credit for the minutes... he just interviewed the coach a few days ago...
Not a good start to the new year for Rowdy. He is declared out indefinitely today due to a broken fibula. :(

That sucks. He was just starting to prove his value again, to this winning team. I hope for the best in a recovery, but that sounds like something that will take a long time.

Heal up Rowdy !! Enjoy the time with your family...
I do not know how to link just the video, so this link is for the Dallas Mavericks' website on ESPN.com. If you scroll down a little, you'll find a video of Ryan discussing the Australian wildfires at center court before a Mavs game against the 76ers. Ryan is a class act in so many ways.

Just for awareness, his nickname has become 'The Accountant' over the last year, due to one of the Mavs announcers continuously making that reference, tied to Rowdy's glasses look off the court :)
Rowdy appears to be in active status now!
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401161348
He did what he needed to do, in order to continue to earn playing time. In 8 minutes, he was 2/3, 1/2 from 3, for 5 points. Justin Jackson continues to struggle, which he did the entire time Rowdy was out, which will only help earn Rowdy more time.
Rowdy gets the first NBA start of his career, due to a Luca Doncic injury, and creative Houston Rockets lineup!

I really hope Doncic enjoys the bench for the rest of the season.
Another good game for Broekhoff in extended minutes!
https://www.espn.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=401161375
Doncic will thankfully be back in a few games, but Rowdy is earning minutes for the rest of the season, regardless!
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Rowdy has the kind of game that ages really well and is the kind of game that gives players nice long careers as important pieces playing integral roles on good teams. I think he's going to stick around for awhile and I really hope that I'm right. It couldn't happen to a nicer person. We went to school the same years. He and I were in the same orientation group and whenever I ran into him he always treated me with respect even though he was a big star. If I wanted to chat with him he always had a moment. I'll always remember that and I'll always root for him. Go Rowdy! Go Valpo!
Bad shooting night tonight, but he played good D, while helping to rebound. He can't have another shooting night like tonight while Doncic is out, so hopefully it was a one off!

Great article:
https://www.mavs.com/unbroekabledreams/
Mavericks rumored to be frontrunners to sign Kidd-Gilchrist once he's bought out. Wonder how that impacts Rowdy's role in the rotation if it happens.
It would probably mean that we get rid of Courtney Lee's terrible contract, but Rowdy would still get 5 mpg.
Rowdy was waived by the Mavericks tonight to make room for Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. I don't understand the move. Rowdy had a lot of fans in Dallas, and they are not going to be happy when they see MKG can't hit the 3-point shot. Also, word is that MKG has a salary of 13 mil compared to Rowdy's 1.5. In any case, Broekhoff should find a spot with another team that needs a sharpshooter, preferably a championship contender. Although, selfishly I'd like to see him come home to play for the Bulls. I guess I'll stop wearing my Mavericks shirt now. Good luck, Rowdy!!!
Well, that sucks. I would rather have seen Lee or Jackson go, as both are terrible, and Lee is vastly overpriced. Not looking forward to another overpriced MKG. It might be a blessing for Rowdy, however. Hopefully he catches on with a .500 or below team, so that he can get some playing time.
Lakers need a 3 shooter. Cavs desperately need a 3 shooter, defender and rebounder. Plus, it would give them 3 Boomer Olympians and all the TV market share in Australia during the mornings.
Sad to read the news this morning on the twittersphere. Really hope he can catch on with a contender, or the Bulls/Pacers.
Ryan made the following statement via Twitter. Of course, he showed the class that we all would have expected from him.
Been a pleasure. Thank you to the dallasmavs for the opportunity. Thank you to the fans for all your support. Thank you coaches who have helped guide me and a special thank you to all my teammates. Enjoyed everyday.
As Ryan most likely moves on to another team, we pause here and post the current all-time Valpo in the NBA scoring leaders:
Bryce 1081 (34 gms, 118 rookie year; 243 games career)
John Janisch 734 (70 games)
Milt Schoon 616 (103 games)
Bob Dille 296 (57 games)
Ryan Broekhoff 238 (59 games)
Alec Peters 82 (20 games)
Don Bielke 14 (7 games)
Come on Clippers Bucks or Lakers... Get Rowdy a ring out of this mess! The Mavs will live to regret this decision.
Rowdy getting some serious support from his former coach and some Mavs fans. They are not happy at all to see Broekhoff go.

(I assume the last one is because she wants them to re-sign him once he clears somehow judging by her sadness at his being waived.
Rowdy just can't catch a break. Here's hoping that he gets picked up by a team that actually plays him.
According to Wikipedia, Rowdy has signed with AEK Athens in the Greek Basketball League:

Good luck to him. Enjoyed watching him play in what few minutes they gave him. Hope to see him play for Australia in the next olympics.
Now I go back to no reason to watch nba games.
I hope he gets (and believe that he will get) another NBA opportunity sometime.
I would be interested to know what happened with AEK Athens, as it no longer shows up on his profile, and there were recent articles about him moving to CSKA Moscow, before that ended:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Broekhoff
https://www.talkbasket.net/72031-former-nba-player-ryan-broekhoff-will-reportedly-not-sign-with-cska-moscow

Darn Peters and Broekhoff as teammates would have been every Valpo fan's dream... I would have definitely had to figure out how to watch CSKA games if that had happened. I wonder if maybe he got or is pursuing an NBA contract. Maybe he's in talks with an unknown team at this time.
Peters is in Turkey at Anadolu Efes, which is another top EuroLeague team.
Though I want to see Rowdy back in the NBA, wouldn't this be cool (Peters and Rowdy on the same team)??

Problem long term there is how long Brett Brown remains as the Sixers coach.
https://www.nba.com/sixers/news/quick-facts-ryan-broekhoff
Picked this up from the Sixers website:
Ryan Broekhoff's wife has an auto-immune disease and the couple has a one-year-old son, but the veteran sharpshooter ultimately decided to join the Sixers for the NBA's restart, writes Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
"We spoke to Elton (Brand, Sixers GM) and Brown (Sixers head coach) and just wanted to get some more information of how the bubble would be down in Orlando, and if anything happens at home, what are my options to get back and take care of my family," Broekhoff said. ".....I think the opportunity in the end was too hard to pass up."
Another setback for Rowdy. Wishing the best for him and his family!

Sorry to hear. Hopefully his family gets through this safe and healthy.
I'm sorry to hear that and wish him his wife and his family the best at this time but I am totally not surprised that he chose to do this. This is exactly the kind of man he is and I salute him. Family first. Team first. Everything before self. That's Rowdy to a T.
