David Woods tweet

#Butler coach LaVall Jordan said Sean McDermott (ankle) has been practicing and is to play Tuesday at Mississippi. Also, Markeese Hastings will dress for the game. Hastings has been out all season after hip surgeries. Derrik Smits (knee) still out.

Unfortunate to see.  I hope that he recovers soon.

If we still had the same guys on the team as we had last year, we would really be screwed.  Derrik and J are out with injuries. Bakari is averaging 14 minutes a game at Iowa, hitting 3 of 12 from the 3 and averaging 1.9 ppg.  Marcus is playing 15.4 minutes, shooting 3 of 14 from the 3 and averaging 6.0 ppg.  Finally Micah is starting for Southern but in his last game had 6 points and 5 fouls.  The previous game he scored 5.

I'll take our four new freshman and throw in a first round pick!

Derrik Smits shaking off the rust, looking to make difference for Butler basketball

Twelve minutes into his first exhibition game with Butler, the Valparaiso transfer suffered a tear to his left patella tendon — his second injury in five months. Sitting in coach LaVall Jordan's office, seeing his coach's face, Smits shed tears.

"I feel healthy, I feel good, but I'm not back to where I was prior," Smits said. "So just keep working, the more practice I have, the better I feel, so just working off the rust, and getting my knees better every day."
