UNI and/or the seed company decided to pay the kid the full $10K. Good move!
Seems like there was a failure to communicate in the Cedar Valley. That would have been bad publicity if the seed company did not pay out.
They had two choices:
1) Pay the kid
2) Lose brand value above that of the actual payout, due to the negative publicity once it hit ESPN
Easy choice.
