Well someone needed to start it....

Based on Sheldon's Instagram story the team is already at Purdue. A video shot from the court at Mackey Arena.

Unfortunately, this may get ugly:
Purdue 82
Valpo 59
Purdue 83
Valpo 54
We will come out slow and be down double digits quickly. We will turn the ball over and chug threes as we will not get good looks early.
2 quick fouls on Mileek and he will sit very early. Our lack of size will be exposed tonight quickly.
Their D will be focused on Clay and Ben and will take the lane away from Daniel. They will push and pressure us at the Arc and we will not get any rhythm going. Expect to see a lot of handoff passes at the arc.
My pick is Eron will have the best play tonight from a Crusader. He seems to step up with better competition.

Purdue's bigs don't move well. McMillan is going to get some three-point looks like he did against Vanderbilt. Besides that, I don't see much else positive here...
Valpo 75
Purdue 85
Valpo tends to have seesaw seasons where after a bad game they sometimes play better because (as someone here once said) they are never as bad as their worst game and never as good as their best game. I think this game will be close throughout until the Boilermakers breakout finally and win by 10 points on free throws at the very end.
The line on draftkings started at -16.5 last night and has somehow moved to -15.5. Valpo loses by at least 20 baring something insane but it is 2020 folks ;D  Their 7'3" guy, Edey, will wreck us inside. We have nothing to counter him except hoping our big guys pull him out on offense. I watched their entire game vs Clemson and they are very good...
I was going to post the lines but you beat me to it. I've wagered against Valpo for the first time ever on tonight's game. I'm in at both 16.5 and 15.5...if they win I'll be thrilled, but after watching the game against UIC I just can't fathom Valpo looking any better on either end vs a very talented Purdue team.
I expect we'll lose by 20 to 30. If we do better, great. If we do worse I won't be surprised. I'll be watching primarily to see which if any of our guys aren't overwhelmed and show that they can compete. I hope at least a few can. I also hope Edwards shows why he started the first two games, cause I haven't seen any reason for it so far.

I'm about as optimistic as you are but generally this has led to the team greatly exceeding my expectations! :o. We do have some talent and maybe they will show some glimpses of it tonight? Go Valpo!
Got the dishes done, sent the dog outside and just turned on the Big Ten Network ready for Valpo's big night against Purdue!!!!
-catching the end of the Michigan St. Detroit game and Detroit is hanging in down by 3 with under 5min to play.
Here We Go!!!!!
Eron Gordon Starting!
Valpo in Brown!!!!!
Is Steven Helm #3 in?
Anyone want to change their mind on the spread of this game? 20 to 30 still sound correct?
We have been hanging in there but at some point they will start hitting shots and I don't think we have the stamina. That said this looks like a much better team than at UIC
How is Valpo winning? 15-some fouls, 9 turnovers, a 6 min scoring drought.
Valpo up by 11 at the half!!!
Who would of thought

Hmmmmm. How'd that happen?
Really great first half. Great energy. Actually hit some threes. Now if we can we carry the energy over to the second half and not foul everybody out this could get interesting.

Somebody said it would be a close score & I wouldn't even agree with that but does anyone believe they should stick with the 20 point Purdue win, a 31 point swing, not impossible but I would call it improbable.
Am I watching the right game? Maybe I'm on the wrong network? Nothing I have seen so far looks familiar. ???

Yep, if it weren't for these Purdue announcers I wouldn't know that John C. Reilly and I went to the same high school. :-)
Much, much better performance than I expected tonight. The 3 went away as I was afraid it would in the second half. Still they hung in to the end but as what usually happens, not enough to actually get the upset. Now hopefully a couple of easier ones to see what winning is like.
That was the Nick Robinson who disappeared after the Charlotte injury. I'm glad he is back! I've missed him!
Surprised we didn't foul Williams at end. He had two key buckets and would take my chances with him on the line being a bad FT shooter.
I really like Goodnews. Very athletic and long. Took it to the hoop.
One good thing about knowing Valpo will always choke in the last 8 minutes against P5 teams, picking Purdue -1.5 at the half :)
What was the story on Edwards and Lorange?
Kudos for Lottich toying with the rotations. Playing Sheboygan and Goodnews a ton of minutes and riding Robinson who was hot. Reducing minutes for Parker Hazen 2.0. Obviously they're never going to win a game like that vs a Big 10 team when the refs decide to call 32 fouls and put the entire team in foul trouble in the first 8 minutes... But I'm a bit more optimistic with some of the other underclassmen. Obviously need a few more pieces, but they've got some players to build around (until they transfer [emoji24]).
Lorange was out with a finger injury. Edwards was in for a bit but seems like he's sitting until they feel more coMay with him being able to work in the system
First game I've gotten to watch this season. I see an abundance of skilled young players with excellent potential. I see exciting basketball ahead. Oh, and whichever gloom and doomer said we have HL talent is wrong. I should know better than to read post game comments after a loss. ;)

I stand by my point that this would be probably good enough talent to be at the top of the Horizon and give Valpo a reasonable shot to get a bid. This isn't enough talent to compete in the MVC.
Good showing by the team tonight! I liked seeing Ognacevic knock some shots down and the team playing aggressive on offense. This may be something to build on. While Purdue certainly didn't play their best, that was still a great effort.

Heck of an effort. Fouls are almost always a problem with lesser skilled teams visit bigger foes, I was proud of how we hung in there and how some of the young guys played.
Edwards and Siggy found the right spot for themselves with how they've started the first few games. Hopefully that'll wake them up and they'll be back and better.
Good to see the effort from the guys today. Another story of so close, but not far enough, against a P5, but if we see more of this team show up, we have a good shot in the MVC.

It sounds like Lottich is getting mad. We are not hearing about Valpo progressing nicely.
I LIKE IT!!!
"I'm tired of moral victories," Valparaiso coach Matt Lottich said. "We need to start getting in the win column. It's a stepping stone. We can't be satisfied. We have to look
in the mirror. Yes, we played an SEC school and a Big Ten school and we played them close, but we still lost."
Mileek was not a factor and fouled out in less than 10 minutes of play. He has never figured out how to wrestle defensively with a true center while sticking around for half of the potential 40 minutes. I was kind of wondering how well Kiser could have contained their bigs? ;) Helm is interesting. Looked solid defensively with no TO's. We have a lot of players with near interchangeably equal talents and potentials. How does Matt sort it out to distribute playing time? I can picture a lot of players excelling one night and being quickly hooked to the end of the bench a night later.

I was amused (confused? dumbfounded?) when the announcer commented that Valpo isn't very deep -- even after Matt had already given ten players minutes.

I was surprised that Emil wasn't given any playing time -- especially as the fouls started stacking up. Is he hurt?

As was I, at 6-10 I thought he would be a contributor last night. I haven't seen him play at all this season along with Zion Morgan.
Emil, Morgan, Siggy, and one of the walk ons were all listed as out for the game. Emil and Morgan were out for UIC too
Great effort... Very encouraging... But a loss is a loss... We will not have arrived until we are winning these types of games but this gives me hope that that day might be a lot sooner than I previously thought...
Don't you guys think we really belonc in the Big Ten now? We can make the ARC work there for a while.
Can we just stop already with all the "why are in the MVC" chatter? After one bad loss, I was starting to wonder if a lot of you guys wanted to take us back to the Mid-Con and get the gang back together with Centenary and peel off IUPUI for all old times sake. We've moved up twice and belong where we are.
Relax a little.
I really wish we wouldn't keep starting Mileek. I think I have said that the past 2 years. He would be a good off the bench option, can hit some buckets as needed but he is not a starter. He fouls out too quickly, too streaky to be counted on for a full game. For every big game there are two duds waiting around the corner.
And I am pretty much right there with Sackey as well. Too many out of control sprints to the basket and unwise contested 3 pointers.
That being said, good performance overall from the team and some bright spots with the a few of the new guys. 0-3 sucks, but hopefully Judson provides a good practice game and we can compete well against the MAC teams before conference starts.

I'm not questioning why we are in the MVC I'm waiting for us to finally start pulling our weight with our new peers... Big difference...

There's been worse teams since we joined the MVC. They've been overall about .500 out of conference. The issue has been lowsy conference seasons, which doesn't impact MVC teams' SOS, RPI, NET, or whatever.
Fine but our scheduling and our inability to win the few opportunities we give ourselves doesn't really do a lot to help the MVC teams' metrics when they do play us.

We played 11 players with 3 scholarships (Lorange, Freese-Villian and Morgan) not in uniform. Purdue played only 8. I heard no mention of them being short handed but surely they must have been for no bench to have been played???? Anybody know any detail on this? Were they missing one or more important pieces?

The play where the 7 foot center Purdue sealed off Mileek and made a strong move to the basket and Mileek fouled him from behind had to be the dumbest play I have seen Mileek make. What was he thinking? He had 3 fouls and fouled a 7 footer that had already gotten past him. That is the way you foolishly foul out of a game.
To answer your question, Mileek doesnt think lol. One of the lowest bball IQ players Valpo seems to have featured in a while.

They were playing with two of their guards out.
