Valpo plays arguably the oddest opponent in the NCAA this week. Big time analytic driven football (no punting, onside kicks)
Most of the conference has put up 50+ and ran away with games. However I believe we have worst OC in the conference. (Although there is a world where Limbach comes out throwing the ball)
Run the ball play good defense. Use clock and give our D rest.
Prediction : Valpo 45 Pres 14

It should be a fun game to watch! The announcers at the San Diego game said that Pres was going for it on 4th down from their own 15 yard line! :o That's some novel thinking!
They have punted 7 times this year. 3 of those were last week as they were being drubbed by Stetson.
2 of the 7 were for 0 or less yards, yes one was negative.
Their average kickoff is 22 yards meaning they onside kick a lot.
They are the Blue Hose with Scotty the Scotsman for a mascot.

Interesting game coming up. I I like seeing new things. We need a little trial and error creativity
LOL...yep, strong statement given another massive failure of a season.

Really need a new coaching staff, budget and 'like OMG' stadium, facilities, etc etc.
total joke.
Valpo DR: I will say this as an alum
If you are a
Parent: I'm sorry this is not Big10 or MAC in terms of those things, but this is who offered your child a chance to play football...
Friend/Relative of student athlete: see above
If you wanted the Power 5 or FBS football experience player X probably should have tried to walk on elsewhere.
I will say track record of transferring players is not great. Kids are usually appropriately recruited. Usually it's parents or kids with a skewed view.
38-28 Valpo

Hoping this is like the Dayton game. The boys came out inspired. End the year on a nice little streak to build on for next season
Beakers win big 42-22. Game should be a ham and egger if they play to their mental potential.
Hoping Valpo bounces back after last weekend.
Valpo-42
Presbyterian-24
Valpo 31
Presbyterian 28 (of course I meant at halftime) :o
Valpo has underperformed all season long.
Not sure underperform is word I'd use
@IWU- Older roster / 7-1 right now, multiple ranked wins
Dartmouth: 7-1 competing for FCS Playoffs
@NDSU:8-0 national title contender, would beat a few power 5 schools
@ Drake : 2-5 , beaten back to back games, only second time in school history
Marist: 3-4 , agree this should have been a win, first let down
@ Saint Thomas : 5-2 , upper tier PFL team on road
Dayton: 4-4, took care of business at home vs mid tier pfl team
San Diego: 5-4, lost on road to top defense in PFL
I'd say offense has not clicked but tough schedule. I think Beacons take care of business next 3 weeks and finish 5-6 with grueling schedule
I watched a good part of Dartmouth take apart Princeton last night and it was hard to believe Valpo was competitive with them. Princeton, undefeated prior to last night, was not competitive with them.
Presbyterian is Carlson-esque, feel for the parents and kids in that program. Hopefully guy is fired
Valpo's up right now due to the rushing game and the strangeness of the opponent but Ben Nimz just isn't very good. He misses throws too often including one where the TE was about as open as he'll ever see and he missed him by 5 yards. This following a pass to Maxwell which he was also wide open and was missed. Coach Fox did not look happy with his QB coming off the field. That said...I'm not sure the roster has anyone better.
All Limbach has to do is run the ball up 14 down field. Comes out throwing.
Man this is incredibly hard to watch

Just kidding!

I don't know why you would say that! We've got 71 yards passing in the last 1.5 games! ::)
Bizarre game - had it on while I was doing some work.
Best stat that I saw...when PU scored to make is 58-55 it eclipsed the previous combined points in a game in which Valpo played. The prior record was 110, in which Valpo beat Lewis 110-0 in the 1920s.
That wasn't even enjoyable to watch

Completely agree, add to it the refs were a joke. The head guy changed the clock about 20 times.
Personal thought, Presbyterian's plan will not work.

Give it time, when their HC has a few recruiting classes that meet his objectives. People said the same thing about the Air Raid offense, when it first came around.
Good to win!
When I turned off the video, it was 28-8 for VU. With a busy weekend to-do list, I figured a huge blowout was in the offing.
Dang....

He'll need to come up with a defense which can limit the damage when the no punting/failed onside kicks don't work.
Does Valpo go back to Nimz or move to Jackson who, I think, probably fits this offense much better because he's a running threat? He was able to complete the passes needed to keep drives alive and/or hit a guy wide open for the TD.

I would think Jackson. I presume further that the freshman qb's are being red-shirted. They showed a lot of talent on the film I've seen.
Freshman can redshirt regardless now as only 2 games left. Room is interesting moving forward.
Jackson/Nimz could graduate and walk. Berry lost the starting and back up slot. Lawson has only been used on running downs. Kaplan and Appel redshirt.
If I were a betting man id bet we bring in one this off-season. One of Jefferson / Nimz comes back. And one of the remaining four transfer
One of the best parts of the game was when President Padilla, pom poms in hand , led the Cheerleaders in a cheer. You'd never see MLB do that. In fact, our new leader will probably go to as many sporting events as MLB given that MLB rarely ever goes to sports that aren't football or basketball.

I was at a meeting this week where Padilla commented about the increased attendance at football games this season and encouraged faculty to attend other sporting events, particularly mentioning men's & women's basketball and volleyball.
Replying to valpo tundra: MLB is often seen at many home events in all sports. Probably makes all home football and basketball games, but he's also been to cross country, swimming, volleyball, softball, baseball, etc. I haven't seen him with poms, though.
I've never not seen him at a football game.
Many M+W Tennis matches seen in person over the years with no MLB in sight. Many M+W soccer matches seen in person with only one sighting to memory. Numerous M+W Cross Country Crusader Opens, our only home meets of the year, with no sightings. Several Softball and Baseball games with no sightings. Occasional Swimming meets with no sightings in memory. Numerous Volleyball games with reasonably reliable sightings. And, I already mentioned he does go to pretty much all of the M+W Basketball and Football games. This a first hand account of facts, not anecdotal thoughts that just because he is AD he must go to events, or that you or others have seen him at something and then transfer that to other events.
valpo tundra, My comments also are based on observations over his years at Valpo. Clearly there will be conflicts that prevent him from being two places at once but it's my observation that he makes it to most home events, although perhaps not staying for the entire event.
Cheap shots, "tundra".
ML was at tonight's UIC basketball game and while walking around greeting people he was watching the Valpo/Butler football game on his tablet. One of my relatives mentioned that he was being criticized on this message board for not being at enough athletic events. He chuckled and said "let them think what they want."
What is our AD supposed to do?
Some people let facts get in the way when they speak or post.

With a public statement pointing out all of the great things his team did in beating two barely above HS teams and no one else.
Their QB is in xfer portal. I'd take him for sure!
The question is if he wants athletic scholarship money.
