Lots of groaning in the forum about Valpo losing the opener. However, we are not alone. MVC went 3-6 against D1 opponents tonight, with no one playing a team from a Power 6 conference. This included Northern Iowa losing to Nicholls and Missouri State losing to SE Missouri State.
And Belmont lost to Ohio.
I feel so much better that we lost.
to round out the MVC results......................
Bradley 65
South Dakota State 81
Indiana State 81
Green Bay 77
Evansville 43
Cincinnati 65
Nicholls State 62
Northern Iowa 58
S. E. Missouri State 99
Missouri State 94
Belmont 80
Ohio U 92
Coppin State 45
Loyola 103
UNC Wilmington 63
Illinois State 68
Well the Valley opened conference play with some real surprises.
SIU (picked 5th) beats Evansville (picked 8th) by only 2 points!
Loyola (picked 2nd) beats Indiana State (picked 9th) by 12.--Obviously no surprise there.
Illinois State (picked 10th) beats Missouri State (picked 4th) by 5! Huge upset
Bradley (picked 6th) beats UNI (picked 3rd) by 2! Huge upset
It's going to be a wild ride! buckle up.

Flipped back and forth between these games last night and have to say that none of the teams really were very impressive.
SIU had that game won in the first half and let UE get back in that game and it was anyone's game at the end.
Indiana State led most of the first half of that game when they hit the 3. Loyola looked like they really missed Cameron Krutwig. They are not the same team as last year and if Indiana State had any depth this would have been just like the other games.
Missouri State is just as they have been since we entered the league, unable to win close games. Illinois State was just the tougher team.
Bradley was also tougher than UNI. UNI looks like they will be an up and down team this year. A J Green hit some crazy shots and scored a bunch, but they need to be more balanced.
This seems like a year where every team can win on any given night.
