I loved the fight and grit that Valpo showed tonight. I started to get that sinking feeling that the game was slipping away from us but we clawed our way back.

I think this team took a small step forward tonight. If you squint, you can begin to see the outlines of what this team might eventually become.

You know what, I've been doing a lot of squinting over the last 6 to 7 years.

We all forgot that Preston Ruedinger is at GB!

Some of us forgot. Some remembered he would probably be a liability.

Quote from: covufan on November 13, 2023, 10:40:40 AMWho is leading the team?  Did they get someone from Shipshewana?

Apparently, nobody   https://www.valpoathletics.com/wbowling/coaches/

I imagine the rep from the athletic dept drives them to the opponents' bowling alleys and hands in a roster and the bowlers take care of the bowl coaching themselves.

26 points for JFL debut with Toronto Raptors.

If Javon had scored 26 for the Raptors in the NBA there would have been a bunch of Raptor fans talking about it on the NBA channel and Mr. Kim would have been talking to Mr. Chin about it in Kim's Convenience Store off Sherbourne on Queen St. East.

Good for you. Not what I am thinking. The Phoenix will be in that last quarter of the Horizon League with IU-Indy (trying to get adjusted to the Jaguars new name). I believe the Beacons will do better but GB pulls it out. We still need to learn to win. We'll shoot slightly better than we did against IU-Indy.

I wonder if we could bring Rowdy back for this game?

That would send a chill down the backs of many of their fans. Of course they are from WisCONsin so they are somewhat used to chills. :-)

Quote from: VULB#62 on November 11, 2023, 08:42:18 PMSo, why not come to Valpo, a close-knit, welcoming, beautiful and comfortable campus, play against DI competition for four years and walk away with a degree that means something.

Honest answer, with all things being equal among athletic programs, the dorms in general are not modern enough although most of the student/athletes are housed in Beacon Hall which is the most modern of Valpo dorms.

I just don't find their info that valuable with a lot of inside jokes and I think Paul Oren does a better job of covering the MVC than they do.

There are some big holes in the Beacons game.

We are who we thought we would be.

Rebounding was not awful but shooting was awful.

This IUPUI team will finish in the lowest quarter of the Horizon League.

It will be very interesting to see if Coach Powell can have his team rebound from this loss and barely beat a poor Green Bay team.

Jerome Palm must score the easy ones. There is no excuse!

The Beacons have a long, long way to go if they want to win playing way up tempo like Coach Powell wants them to play.

IUPUI's #4 from San Francisco was a real spark plug that really put them up at a great time so they could coast to a win.

I wonder if we could get DePaul back at the Wintrust Arena. It's a walk from Soldier Field and McCormick Place. Maybe the schedule can be made where fans can attend 2 events with one at Wintrust and one at Soldier Field or McCormick Place.

Good player, but didn't have the same season this year as he did in his amazing RS FR campaign.  Hopefully he elevates and goes somewhere in his baseball career, as you don't go to Southern Miss for the academics.

Southern Mississippi University

Founded on March 30, 1910, the university is a dual campus institution, with its main campus located in Hattiesburg and its other large campus – Gulf Park – located in Long Beach. It has five additional teaching and research sites, including the John C. Stennis Space Center and the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory (GCRL).

It does have one of only 5 space center research centers in the country.

Has there been any improvement in the PA system? I've not heard anyone complaining about it lately. Or does having Coach Powell in charge make you forget your complaints.

FYI, IUPUI moved over to the Indiana Farmers Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on the east side of Indy on 38th Street several years ago. Some people in Indy call the State Fair, White Expo. As opposed to the National Black Expo which used to be held in Indy until Gov. Pence pissed them off with Indiana's LGBTQ laws. Now the National Black Expo brings $millions$ to Chicago.

The curtain down on home games? In 1997?  My friend I was there at the same time. That is absolutely incorrect. Maybe in 87. But not Bryce's junior or senior years.

This is correct. I've been to games through 1987 and 1997.

We'll see if the momentum from the Trinity Christian game flows through to this IU Indianapolis game and the Beacons keep feeling the "brotherhood of light."

As I understand it talking to an Indian-American lady I do business with this was not a wealthy family that could come to the US easily. They are devastated. Varun was their person to take them out of the poor status in India. He would get his degree and pay for the whole family to survive back home. Now all that hope is gone. His father was a teacher and they make very little in India.

I couldn't find Jake diving for a loose ball (there were some pics of the Valpo HS Diving team, though) but I did find this. Especially with Jake wearing the nose guarding mask after he broke his nose diving for a loose ball.

Oh, God, now all the Ohio State players will know I broke my nose in college. Why did you tell them?

"The Jaguars played Spaulding University Eagles (Downtown Louisville, 1500 students) at the IUPUI home arena (Indiana Farmers Coliseum) for their regular season opener on Monday night..."

Did not know that Judge Schmales grandson had a university named after him.

Also, does this mean that you cannot major in engineering, computer science or other tech fields and play sports for IU-Indianapolis?

I guess the medical school, run out of IU Hospital, next door to Riley Children's Hospital, will fall under the auspices of IU Indianapolis?
