Quote from: FieldGoodie05 on October 30, 2018, 01:20:43 PMAlso might we expect to see the marketing (brand) company we recently contracted with involved in the "naming" options out there?  Not saying we generate much here but every little bit helps.

Quote from: VULB#62 on November 01, 2018, 02:04:14 PMAnd I also like the idea of selling naming rights to the arena itself -- something like Thrivent Arena at the ARC.  If/when a building project is initiated, that would be a great time to go after corporations for something like that.

I would not be surprised to see some news on the idea of naming rights to the ARC in the next year or two.  This has been a topic discussed by the Board of Directors over the past few years.  With the contract with the new marketing company, I imagine this was on the list of items for them to pursue.

Another interesting article I came across with a Valpo connection - https://www.nwitimes.com/business/lake-newsletter/centier-turns-highest-quarterly-profit-in-its--year-history/article_ab70e93a-a041-5992-a322-a2e16f154201.html

From near the end of the article - "Centier's recent philanthropy in the community included a $250,000 donation to the National Mascot Hall of Fame in Whiting and a "significant sponsorship" for Valparaiso University athletics' 2018-19 season."

I'm hearing some rumors about a neutral site tourney in Myrtle Beach, SC for Valpo in 2018.  Anyone else hearing anything about this?

Interview with Missouri State President - http://www.ozarkssportszone.com/2017/05/09/missouri-valley-considering-further-expansion-after-valparaiso-addition/

Thankfully this interview offers some good insight into the whole "leaving the door open" for future additions to the MVC.

Just give free upper level tickets to any participant in the LBA tourney...it'll put butts in the seats and keep them happy about having to rearrange their schedule.

Quote from: valpotx on February 15, 2015, 03:13:48 PMand continuously mentioning that 2/3 of the refs were new

I found this rather amusing.  Just because you don't recognize them doesn't mean they're new...

Today's officials:

Jeff Spedoske - Officiated 126 D1 games in past 7 seasons
http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/jeff-spedoske

Matt Potter - Officiated 257 D1 games in past 8 seasons
http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/matt-potter/schedule

Mike Brya - Officiated 31 D1 games in past 4 seasons
http://statsheet.com/mcb/referees/mike-brya/schedule

If I remember his comments correctly, he mentioned that he was familiar with Spedoske, but the other 2 must be new...

Quote from: vu84v2 on January 11, 2015, 09:04:01 PMHinkle Fieldhouse, while historic, is certainly not comfortable.

Actually, I was just at Hinkle the other night for a volleyball match.  It was extremely comfortable, after what I assume was a multi-million dollar renovation.

Moved to Valpo -5 over night

And just moved to Valpo -4.5 this morning...

Excited to get to the ARC tonight, haven't been to many games in person lately.

According to Todd on the post game show, it was a dislocated toe.  Hopefully not too long to bounce back from that.  Definitely thankful it wasn't as bad as it appeared to be initially.

Thanks for posting the link.  No mention is made of dining facilities, so I guess we can assume that residents go to other dining facilities on campus for meals -- it's only a short walk to the Union, right?

When the new union was opened all dining services were consolidated to the union.  There are no longer cafeterias in any of the dorms.

While I do love the commissioner's write ups...I think he missed one key comparison between the 2 programs for this year...

Bryce Drew vs. Ray McCallum Sr.

...and I think we know who has the edge in this one  ;)

This, from the Valpo website, would tend to challenge your position (or that of your associates) that Valpo is a "non-entity" with the LCMS.

http://www.valpo.edu/alumni/events/2013LCMSconvention.php

It'a coming up shortly, thus, not old news from the past.

Anyone else gonna be attending this?  I am attending convention as a lay delegate and just received my invitation to the Valpo event.  Just throwing it out there, the convention information books and schedule of events lists that evening as "Concordia Universities Alumni Receptions". No mention of Valpo...take it for what it's worth...

Bought tickets on stubhub last night.  $350 for main floor...both sessions Thursday and Saturday.  Looking forward to a fun couple days in Detroit...and by that I mean I'll be spending my free time in Windsor...

These tickets weren't free....students faculty staff all had to pay these. Could be why only 200 for our students. I thought both the students and community came out in force Saturday. I don't expect quite as much from the community with e late weeknight start plus e students are on break. I still think it will be a great at,osphere tomorrow night.

In the past, student senate has picked up the tab for the student tickets and distributed them for free...anyone know if they did that again this year?
